24.01.2022 Thank you to those who came along to the working bee this morning. The Lake is looking awesome!!

23.01.2022 We would appreciate anyone who can spare time to help. The lake is managed by a small number of people, but utilised by many. It would be great to have a few extra set of hands to help out for the working bee. *Sunday 25th November, 9am - 12pm*

22.01.2022 We appreciate the help from community members to keep the lake surrounds looking great. We know of people that pull out the odd weed as they walk around the lake. Thank you . Every weed you pull or stick you remove from the track benefits everyone!

22.01.2022 Hello everyone, as the president of the Nhill Lake Committee, we have to ensure that all users of the lake facilities (including the walking track) are safe. Due to the number of dead and dying birds, and the unknown cause (suspected poisoning), the decision to close the track has been made with consultation with Hindmarsh Shire Council and EPA have been advised. The Lake Committee are fully aware that the closure is very inconvenient for the many users. It is our intention to have the closure lifted as soon as possible so we can all get back to using our awesome facility. Please understand that we don’t want to close the walking track, but in the interest of public safety, it is necessary. Regards, Stu Bone.

20.01.2022 PLEASE NOTE Due to circumstances out of our control, the Nhill Lake walking track is CLOSED until further notice.

19.01.2022 * Reminder* Working bee this coming Sunday. 9am start with BBQ afterwards. Unlike Bunnings, we allow onion on top of the sausages!

18.01.2022 Update The Nhill Lake Committee have been advised that a treatment option for the algae breakout is to use power boats to aerate the water. Committee members will be using their boats regularly over the coming days & weeks to try our best to get the algae under control so you can all get back to enjoying the Lake. ... Happy Australia Day

18.01.2022 The Nhill Lake Committee wish to remind people that all recreational activities are banned. These include boating, fishing, utilising the bbq's and outdoor gym equipment. The message from the government is clear - Stay Home Save Lives. For those using the walking track as a means to essential exercise, please maintain physical distancing restrictions. (these measures will remain in force until midnight on 13 April 2020, and if necessary, will be extended)

11.01.2022 Update on previous post Premier Daniel Andrews announced today that the current restrictions on recreational activities has been extended for a further 4 weeks. Current bans on fishing, boating, outdoor gym use & bbq use will remain in force until midnight on 11th May. You are still permitted to use the walking track as a means to exercise but please continue to maintain the physical distancing restrictions. Thank you for your cooperation. Stay Home Save Lives.

05.01.2022 Great work Nhill Lake Committee for cooking the bbq at today’s Luv-a-duck 50th celebrations.

05.01.2022 Due to the lake having levels of blue/green algae still present, we have decided to cancel the Duck Races for 2019. BUT we will be back in 2020 and we promise you a cracker of a night! In the meantime, head down to the lake tonight for the Nhill Town Committee's Nhill Fiesta Fridays in February and enjoy the Elvis Spectacular.

01.01.2022 Attention all Nhill Lake users. Unfortunately the Nhill Lake has been identified as having a dangerous level of blue/green algae. Effective immediately the Nhill Lake is closed for bathing, fishing, yabbying and any other activity which involves entering the water. ... Nhill Lake committee, HSC and GWM Water are working together to provide a safe environment as soon as possible. Signage is in very short supply state wide, and until the signs are in place, the community is asked to please pass on the current restrictions to all lake users. Friday Fiestas will not be impacted, however the Nhill Lake Duck Races may need to be postponed or cancelled. We will try to keep everyone updated as soon as there are developments. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
