24.01.2022 We've been receiving an increased number of complaints about motorbikes on paths along Kororoit Creek. If you see anyone riding a motorbike on the paths immediately call 000. The local police have confirmed it is considered an emergency, and it is important to report it every time.... A reminder for your personal safety: do not confront those riding motorbikes as there have been reports of aggressive behaviour from some riders. Our shared pathways are more important than ever at this time of lock down and we can all be involved in keeping them safe for everyone, either by not riding a motorbike down it, or reporting it if you see this happening.

24.01.2022 No reports of incidents but always something to be super mindful of with all our furry loved ones...

20.01.2022 Police are urging residents of Brimbank to beware of fake buyers and sellers, on online market places such as Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree. This follows a ...number of recent reports to police of subsequent crime, including; robberies, frauds, blackmail and extortion. Robberies are occurring during pre-arranged meetings, where offenders have stolen property; and in some instances victims have been assaulted. There have also been incidents where victims provide their personal and banking details to the buyer/seller. This has resulted in offenders fraudulently using their details, accessing bank accounts; and in some instances has escalated into incidents of blackmail and extortion. If you’re planning on using an online site to sell or buy property, there are a few simple preventative measures you can take: - Avoid providing personal or bank account details, unless absolutely necessary; - Arrange to meet in a will-lit place where there are CCTV cameras, e.g. a shopping centre or fast food outlet; - Consider what time of the day you arrange to meet, choosing a time when there’s likely to be a lot of people around; - Coordinate the exchange via phone call rather than text message; and - When selling a vehicle, request to see a copy of their driver’s licence prior to giving them access to the keys of the vehicle. There are also a few behaviours from potential fake buyers or sellers that you should keep your eye out for: - Changing the agreed transaction time and location at short notice; - Presenting themselves as a female buyer of the phone, but a male arrives to conduct the exchange; - Requesting to handle the property the property before payment is made, often under the pretext of checking the IMEI number (in the case of mobile phones); and - If it doesn’t feel right, don’t take the chance. If you need immediate police assistance, always call Triple Zero (000). Report any suspicious behaviour to your local police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
