06.01.2022 Short Black Opera and Dhungala Children's Choir send love, respect and most sincere congratulations to Uncle Archie Roach on your ARIA Life Time Achievement Award. We were honoured to work with you in 2016 on Let Love Rule and are so grateful for all you have done to light the path for us.

04.01.2022 Congratulations to members of Ensemble Dutala on a brilliant launch of this new SBO program. Thank you to Director Aaron Wyatt for your gracious leadership and outstanding musicianship. Allara Briggs-Pattison, Jackson Worley, Jess Hitchcock, Maya Hodge, Rosie Savage, Preston Clifton and Zeena Tesoriero - this was not possible without you. ... Thank you to Yuin composer Brenda Gifford for completing Ensemble Dutala’s first commission - the evocative Bundoola. Thank you to our ODIJ 21 orchestral partners Orchestra Victoria and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the players who joined us for ODIJ21 and the launch of Ensemble Dutala. Monica Naselow, Cindy Watkin, Monica Curro, Matt Angus, Natasha Fearnside, Tim Hennessy and Stevie Newton. Thank you to OV Artistic Director Nicolette Fraillion and Elise Lerpiniere for the many months of logistical, artistic and venue support. Thank you to MSO Artistic and Creative Lead Matt Hoy for months of encouragement and for the exciting development of an on going relationship with ED. Thank you to our documentary makers Daniel King and Ben Pederick with sound crew Terry, Martin and Stew for capturing this history making moment. Stay tuned for this documentary. Congratulations to ODIJ21 Scholar Jackson Worley and thank you Taungwurrung artist Mick Harding for the creation of the outstanding shield presented to Jackson complete with Kamilaroi totem. Bravo to young Djamari Hunter, DCC Instrumental Scholar on the occasion of his very first performance on Viola - a duet with his teacher and mentor ED Director Aaron Wyatt. Special mention must go to our Noongar cellist from Albany WA who now must complete 14 ISO upon retuning home. That kind of commitment is beyond measure. Thanks also to Anna Pokorny for the loan of a cello saving SBO the airfare from WA (cello’s demand their own seat!) Finally, thank you to ABC Classic for your much valued support of our endeavours, in particular Russell Torrence and Stéphanie Kabanyana Kanyandekwe. Well done SBO!! Now bring on the rest of 2021.

01.01.2022 Congratulations Uncle Archie Roach and bravo Jess Hitchcock. An incredibly emotional tribute to a legend.
