20.01.2022 Foodbank SA is a magnificent non-profit charity organisation providing a range of wonderful services to low-income families, welfare and community support agenc...ies, including schools. But it could do so much more with a little financial support from our stingy State Government which provides only $300,000 a year. It is the worst funding rate of any state on both a percentage of revenue rate and pro rata. Foodbank SA really needs $2.5 million a year, which its CEO Greg Pattinson succinctly points out should be seen by the government as more of an investment than a handout. If Foodbank SA didn’t exist, the vital services it provides would cost the government about $25 million a year to provide. A no brainer really!

19.01.2022 No Australian would live the life they do today without the ultimate sacrifice given by our fallen Diggers and other armed forces personnel in protecting our gr...eat nation. On the 11th hour of this 11th day of the 11th month - Remembrance Day please take a minute of silence to honour those brave men and women. We shall remember them.

18.01.2022 Today I asked the State Government what it had done to ensure the broader Strathalbyn community decides the future of the Kalimna Hostel as either accommodation... for the aged or transform it into an aged-allied health centre in accordance with its own policy position at the time of the election. 15.01.2022 Did you know asbestos-related diseases claim more lives each year than motor vehicle accidents with more than 4000 people losing their lives to asbestos exposur...e? Sadly, asbestos exposure is the No.1 cause of work-related deaths in the world with Australia having the second-highest mesothelioma death rate in the world. Today is Asbestos Victims Memorial Day a very special day on which we honour those who have lost their lives from asbestos related disease, the love they brought to our lives and the influences they had on us, as well as mourn their passing. I am extremely humbled to have been nominated as a patron of Asbestos Diseases Society of South Australia - a role that I intend to fulfil to my fullest abilities and an Association I look forward to working with for many, many years to come. There is still a lot of work to do. I will continue to work closely with the Asbestos Victims Association, the Asbestos Diseases Society of SA and others to ensure victims of dust diseases are able to access a fast-tracked compensation scheme. I assure you all I continue to keep an eagle eye watch over our dust diseases legislation - which is easily regarded as Australia’s most superior model - and receive regular updates from our Attorney-General regarding its operation. To those who have lost a loved one through insidious, asbestos-related diseases, my thoughts are with you.

10.01.2022 Centre Alliance is appalled at Senator Jacqui Lambie's deal with the Federal Government to repeal the Medevac laws. Senator Lambie said her decision had been a difficult one, but it should not have been. She should have stood up for the hundreds of men and women in offshore detention and protected their right to timely medical treatment.... Senator Stirling Griff said the repeal would mean Australia will now return to the slow pre-existing process where requests for medical transfers were too often stalled by legal challenges brought by this heartless government. These are life-saving laws and no deal can justify over-turning them, Senator Griff says. Prior to Medevac there were 12 deaths in detention. There have been none since Medevac came into force, he said. Because of this government, Australia is slowly losing its heart.
