13.01.2022 Freedom Day Festival is held every year to commemorate the 1966 Wave Hill Walk-Off and birth of Aboriginal Land Rights. There are incredible books and resources to support and learn from, like Yijarni: True Stories from Gurindji Country. Karu: Growing up Gurindji. Songs from the Stations. The festival is a whirlwind of traditional arts, sobering history, culture, sports and amazing live music - I encourage everyone to experience! Since 2017 I've had the privilege to live and work with kids and families in Kalkaringi Community, where the Freedom Day Festival is held.
