25.01.2022 Michael Ferguson, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport 28 September 2020 Get on board this Seniors Week 2020 with free bus travel... As a proud supporter of Seniors Week, the Tasmanian Government is helping senior cardholders stay connected with their communities by offering free travel on any Metro bus from 12 to 18 October. Metro is a long-time partner of Seniors Week, an annual campaign presented by the Council Of The Ageing (COTA), with the support of Government. A key objective for COTA is to provide accessible transport for seniors and Seniors Week patrons who want to participate in the activities on offer. Metro plays a key role in keeping Tasmanians moving and connecting them with essential services, which is particularly important for the state’s older demographic. The Tasmanian Liberal Government will continue to work with our community organisations to ensure we support those in greatest need. While this Seniors Week will of course be quite different than previous years due the pandemic, COTA Tasmania has worked hard to ensure all events that are on offer observe relevant COVID safety plans. Seniors Week is the largest celebration for people over 50 in the southern hemisphere, and will run from 12 to 18 October, 2020. For more information, visit https://www.cotatas.org.au/programs/seniorsweek/

25.01.2022 27 November 2020 Sarah Courtney, Minister for Small Business, Hospitality and Events Eat it Tassie! campaign launch... We know Tourism and Hospitality industries were some of the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is why the Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to supporting our important hospitality sector as we prepare to welcome visitors back to our State for the summer season and continue to encourage locals to get out and about. The Tasmanian Government has committed $250,000 to support a state-wide marketing campaign that will feature Tasmania’s hospitality venues and local personalities, showcase Tasmanian produce and remind people that these venues still need our support. The campaign will be called Eat it Tassie! and will focus on celebrating Tasmania’s food, beverage and venue experiences through story telling across various platforms with hospitality venues encouraged to get creative by adding specialty food and beverage offerings that showcase Tasmanian produce or to host events. The campaign will be delivered across radio, TV, print and social media channels. Minister for Small Business, Hospitality and Events, Sarah Courtney, said As we move through the recovery phase, the Tasmanian Government is focused on supporting our vital hospitality industry. Eat it Tassie! is a free marketing platform and I strongly encourage our clubs, pubs, café’s restaurants and bars in all corners of our State to leverage from this exciting opportunity which will help drive visitation to venues as we rebuild our strong hospitality sector, Minister Courtney said. We look forward to celebrating our great Tassie food, wine, produce, venues, chefs, hospitality staff and their special take on Tassie food and festivity over our Tassie summer. Dave Noonan from Bright Escapes is one of the drivers of the Eat it Tassie! Campaign and said COVID had been tough for everyone, especially our hospitality sector. Eat it Tassie! provides an opportunity for our hospitality venues to showcase their amazing food, people and experience this summer, Mr Noonan said. It means you can experience the best that Tassie has to offer, no matter where you are in our great State. Our hospitality venues really need to have a big summer. We want Tasmanians and visitors to get out there and sample the best of our food and produce and this is a great way to get all the information in one easy to access location. Eat it Tassie! is the second hospitality campaign funded by the Tasmanian Government since the COVID-19 pandemic hit with $255,000 provided to deliver the ‘Welcome Back’ campaign during July October 2020 to encourage Tasmanians to safely support their favourite venues. Venues can register at https://eatittassie.com.au/ with the program of activities, experiences and offers available to the public from mid-December.

23.01.2022 Peter Gutwein, Premier of Tasmania 2 October 2020 Continuing our plan to ease border restrictions... Keeping Tasmanians safe has been our number one priority during the COVID-19 pandemic and that will continue as we move towards relaxing Tasmania’s border restrictions. Today, I can confirm, based on advice from the State Controller and Public Health that our plan is to ease border restrictions with low risk COVID states from 26 October. This will see us move to implement Step 2 of our three Step plan announced two weeks ago for the gradual transition for our borders. Low risk jurisdictions are determined by Public Health based on a number of factors which include the period of time they have gone with low or no numbers of cases and the lack of community transmission occurring in those jurisdictions. At this stage, low risk states include South Australia, Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Queensland, the ACT and possibly NSW. I want to be clear, that if at any time the situation changes in these states and the advice is that the risk is too high then I won’t hesitate to change this decision. We will review the situation in New South Wales over the next week and border restrictions will remain in place for the foreseeable future with Victoria until we are satisfied that the risk has reduced to a lower level. Again, I’d like to thank Tasmanians for continuing to do the right thing and continuing to follow the rules to ensure we protect our people, our health system, our economy and the jobs it supports. I intend to provide Tasmanians with an update on the measures being undertaken by the Government to prepare our State for the reopening of our borders, including our health system and aged care preparedness, in the week commencing the 11th of October. The improvement in terms of the COVID risk situation around the country is good news, however we need everyone’s help to prepare and to keep on top of COVID. There’s no room for complacency. Please remember to do the right thing. Maintain physical distancing, wash your hands, cover your coughs and sneezes, if you’re unwell stay at home and don’t go to work, and if you display even the mildest symptoms, please, get a test.

22.01.2022 Peter Gutwein, Premier 18 November 2020 South Australia to remain classified as a medium risk jurisdiction... The health and safety of Tasmanians is my first priority. On Monday, we moved swiftly to declare South Australia a medium risk jurisdiction, meaning we currently have people in our State quarantining who have been in South Australia in the past 14 days. While South Australian health authorities have moved quickly to contain the spread, they have today announced they are leaving nothing to chance and will be implementing from midnight tonight a statewide six-day lockdown. This means South Australia will remain classified as a medium risk jurisdiction for the time being and we are asking South Australians in our State, to please follow the rules and make plans to safely head home, or to stay in quarantine for 14 days after leaving South Australia at either a suitable premises or in a Government mandatory quarantine hotel. South Australia has identified three places as posing a significant risk, meaning we are issuing the following advice to anyone in our state who has been in the following locations at the specified times; Woodville Pizza bar, from 6 - 16 November. Anyone who visited the pizza bar or got takeaway, including delivery, must self-isolate and call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 to arrange testing. This also applies to anyone who has a family or household member who purchased food from this premises during this time; Lyell McEwin Hospital - Emergency Department only from 5:30am 13 November 8am 14 November. Anyone who visited between these times is asked to self isolate and call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 to arrange testing; and The Aquadome, 1 Crockerton Road, from 14 November 11am-1:30am. Anyone who visited between these times are asked to self isolate and call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 to arrange testing. I’m sorry for these circumstances, but just as the South Australian Government makes swift moves to get on top of the situation early, we must also. Again, I ask that we all continue to do the right thing, remember, wash your hands, cover your coughs and sneezes, if you’re unwell stay at home and don’t go to work, and if you display even the mildest symptoms, please, get a test.

21.01.2022 Keeping Tasmanians safe has been our number one priority during COVID-19 and it will continue to be our priority as we move towards relaxing our border restrict...ions. Today I announced that we plan to open to low risk COVID states from 26 October. We've been working hard to prepare, but we need all Tasmanians to keep on top of COVID by following some simple rules. 21.01.2022 It was great to finish out the campaign today with some time at Lindisfarne with James Walker and ACT Opposition Leader Elizabeth Lee, talking to Lindisfarne voters about our plan to secure Tasmania’s future. 20.01.2022 25 November 2020 Sarah Courtney, Minister for Women Women in Leadership Scholarship Program 2020-21... The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to creating a more inclusive Tasmania that empowers and enables women and girls to fully participate in our economic, social, political and community life. Today, I am delighted to open the next round of the Women in Leadership Scholarship Program 2020-21. This program is a joint initiative of the Tasmanian Government with Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), to support Tasmanian women to gain a greater understanding of the duties and responsibilities of being a board director. This year, the Program is seeking applications for women working in the agriculture, forestry, fisheries, tourism & hospitality, mining, building and construction sectors. Scholarships will be awarded to undertake the Foundations of Directorship Course. This will support early career women to develop their executive knowledge and leadership skills. The new Women on Boards Strategy that was launched last Sunday includes an action to expand the Women in Leadership Program from 2021 to support women to develop board leadership skills at varying stages of their careers, and in areas of non-traditional employment for women. Through this expanded program, the Government will partner with industry peak bodies to provide a range of different training options to facilitate this process. This program is one way the Tasmanian Government is working to further women’s leadership and representation on Government boards and committees, and across the industries critical to our recovery from COVID-19. Applications close December 23 2020. Information on the Program, including the guidelines and details about how to apply are available by calling the AICD on 1300 739 119 or emailing [email protected].

20.01.2022 There’s been some nervous moments (and lost sleep!) over the past 3 weeks but I’m so happy for Richie. He’s suffered some unbelievably bad luck over the years and nobody deserves this more than him. Not just a great athlete either, he conducts himself with absolute class and is someone Tasmanians should be incredibly proud to have represent us on the global stage

17.01.2022 Michael Ferguson, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport 23 November 2020 More support for vehicle registration and licensing... Enhancements to Tasmania’s Graduated Licensing System will come into effect next month, aligning us with other jurisdictions in ensuring our young and novice drivers enjoy a lifetime of safe driving. The changes will improve safety, streamline the process of getting a licence and save up to $189 per driver. It will mean fewer visits to Service Tasmania, fewer licence cards and fees, and additional assistance to help novice drivers achieve their mandatory logbook hours including free lessons funded by the State and Federal Governments. An awareness campaign, Plates Plus: Safer driving for life was launched earlier this month, highlighting that the enhancements are about more than just getting your L and P plates they’ll also enable new drivers to develop the lifelong knowledge and skills they need to ensure they’re safe on the road. The pathway also now includes an Enhanced P1 Pilot, under which the Tasmanian Government is providing more options for novice drivers to obtain their provisional licence, and reduce wait times for assessments especially in regional areas. An additional 12 qualified driving instructors from the private sector are now authorised to deliver P1 assessments. Importantly, these extra assessors can conduct tests seven days a week. This more than doubles the number of private assessors, boosting the number of spots available and in more locations around the State. In recognition of the significant impact of COVID-19 on Tasmanian small transport operators, funding of $9.75 million was provided to eligible businesses under the Business Vehicle Registration Relief Package. We have provided business vehicle registration relief to over 500 businesses for approximately 3,500 vehicles. We also supported the hire and drive sector through the COVID-19 crisis by either cancelling or temporarily freezing vehicle registrations. The Government provided assistance for more than 5,000 vehicles, representing over 60 per cent of the entire Tasmanian hire and drive fleet. A range of measures were also implemented to ensure community access to essential services, by keeping taxis on the road during and after the COVID-19 restrictions. We waived the annual administration fee payable by taxi operators with a total benefit to industry of $407,000. Additionally, we: Extended the maximum allowable operating age of taxis Cancelled the annual tender for the release of owner-operator taxi licences Deferred the passenger transport service operator accreditation audits for six months, and Waived or froze the registration fees for 307 taxis. For more information on changes to the Graduate Licensing System, visit https://www.platesplus.tas.gov.au/

15.01.2022 1 December 2020 Michael Ferguson, Minister for Finance Extension to Tasmanian HomeBuilder Grant scheme... The Tasmanian Liberal Government and Morrison Government are working hard to stimulate the economy and support businesses, jobs and Tasmanian families as we recover and rebuild. On Sunday, the Australian Government announced it would extend the federal HomeBuilder Grant scheme through to March 31, 2021. We welcome this economy-boosting extension, and I’m pleased to announce the Tasmanian Liberal Government will also extend the Tasmanian HomeBuilder Grant scheme for contracts entered up to March 31, 2021. The Australian Government will amend the federal scheme by: Reducing the grant amount to $15,000 for contracts entered from January 1 to March 31, 2021; Replacing the builder registration eligibility date to November 29, 2020, for contracts entered on or after that date; and Extending the end date for lodgement of applications under the scheme for all applicants to April 14, 2021. The Tasmanian Government will adapt criteria in line with amendments proposed to the National Partnership Agreement so that all new home builds will have a period of six months to commence construction, and builders registered up to November 29 will be eligible under both schemes. This means all eligible Tasmanians entering a contract between January 1 and March 31 will be entitled to both grants, totalling $35,000. This is another massive boost for Tasmania’s building and construction sector, supporting local jobs and the Tasmanian economy. As at Friday, November 27, there were 858 applications for the federal HomeBuilder Grant received 736 for new home builds and 122 for substantial renovations. There were also 530 applications received for the Tasmanian HomeBuilder grant and a further 206 first home builders had applied for the First Home Owner Grant, in conjunction with the HomeBuilder grant. This extension will be delivered through the 2020-21 State Budget, which is focused on jobs, confidence and supporting the community.

14.01.2022 Peter Gutwein, Premier 17 November 2020 A further update on Tasmania’s response to Adelaide COVID-19 cluster... The health and safety of Tasmanians remains our number one priority, and that’s why yesterday we took immediate and precautionary action in response to the COVID-19 cluster in Adelaide. Today, we have provided a further update to Tasmanians and those visiting from South Australia. Firstly, for visitors who are already self-isolating after arriving from South Australia or Tasmanians who have returned home from South Australia from 7 November, we would ask that they continue to self-isolate for another 24 hours. We will continue to take public health advice and will provide another update tomorrow, however we would hope that these people may soon be able to return to their normal activities. In terms of those visitors that arrived in our State from yesterday afternoon, we lifted South Australia to a medium risk jurisdiction as of yesterday, and we intend to keep that in place for the time being. Following further public health advice, we may look at putting in place geographical restrictions, allowing us to differentiate between areas that the latest evidence defines as COVID hotspots and those which are not. A further update will be provided on this in coming days. Importantly, If anyone who is self-isolating or in quarantine has any symptoms, please get tested, contact the Public Health hotline 1800 671 738. And importantly, if anyone is seriously ill, please call 000 and explain your circumstance to the operator and you will receive the help you need.

12.01.2022 19 September 2020 Jeremy Rockliff, Minister for Education and Training Skills for economic recovery... Tasmanian workers looking to gain new skills have the opportunity to share in funding of up to $3 million as part of the Tasmanian Government’s Skills Fund which opened today. We recognise that a skilled and productive workforce is vital to our economy as we recover from the impacts of COVID-19, and that a rewarding career is beneficial for the wellbeing of individuals and communities. The last funding rounds for this program saw 13 local training organisations share in $1.47 million to directly help some 1,448 existing workers improve their skills to secure rewarding careers. The Skills Fund is designed to ensure there is a stable pool of skilled workers in areas of high skills demand in priority industries, and addresses identified skills gaps across the state by giving workers access to training. The Fund has a focus on sectors including tourism and hospitality, building and construction, advanced manufacturing, ICT, aged and disability services, agriculture and aquaculture, and transport and logistics. Endorsed Registered Training Organisations are eligible to apply with applications closing on Friday, 16 October 2020. Further information is available from Skills Tasmania.

12.01.2022 This week in the Tasmanian Parliament I was able to say a few words about Tasmanian Cyclist Richie Porte's historic result in the Tour de France and why for his entire career he has been a Tasmanian and Australian that we all should be proud of. Congratulations Richie!

09.01.2022 Last night the Development Application to allow the duplication of the East Derwent Hwy at Geilston Bay was passed unanimously by Clarence City Council. This much needed project will now proceed thanks to $24.2 million worth of funding in last week’s State Budget. This project will not only allow for safer passage of traffic through this area but it will also facilitate the enormous housing potential that is currently being unlocked in the area.... Alderman James Walker and I have been advocates for this work, and it was great to meet with him to discuss it during National Road Safety Week. *Sorry about the wind! It was a bit rough out there!

09.01.2022 Jeremy Rockliff MP, Minister for Education and Training Students benefiting from Boat Safety Program Students are learning the importance of boat safety through a program delivered in partnership through the Department of Education and Marine and Safety Tasmania (MaST).... Over 150 schools and 15,000 students are participating in program this year, which has seen children and their families becoming more mindful of boat safety requirements and the importance of learning these lifelong skills. With the high rate of boat ownership in Tasmania, building an understanding of boat safety among young people is important to reduce the risk of recreational boating fatalities in future years. The current Boat Safety Program, delivered by MaST, has been part of the school Swimming and Water Safety Program since 2013, and involves students undertaking a Stage 1 practical in-water boat safety workshop. The workshops have been extremely popular in our schools, resulting in increased demand for the program and the development of an additional Stage 2 theoretical course. During the course, students acquire basic skills in recreational boating and trip planning, become aware of relevant safety equipment, observe a flare demonstration and are provided with take-home resources about boat safety.

06.01.2022 Securing the future of The Hobart Clinic. A re-elected majority Gutwein Liberal Government will provide $2 million to The Hobart Clinic towards its $19 million redevelopment at its Rokeby site. The current facility is ageing and no longer fit for purpose, and this funding will help the Clinic to rebuild as a modern 48 bed facility. The Clinic is Tasmania’s leading private charitable treatment centre, providing mental health services for conditions such as anxiety, mood disord...ers, depression, drug and alcohol addiction and memory loss. This expansion will help to ease the pressure on the state’s mental health services, with the funding to be provided as part of our $20 million commitment to support our private hospitals and community nursing and home care sector. This helps take pressure off the public system, helping more Tasmanians get the care they need.

05.01.2022 25 November 2020 Guy Barnett, Minister for Primary Industries and Water Strong growth for our primary industries... The latest Agri-Food Scorecard has confirmed another exceptional year of growth for Tasmania’s world-class primary industries. The report confirms the sector’s total farm gate value increased by seven per cent in 2018-19 to $1.9 billion, with total agri-food value also increasing to $2.92 billion. This is a fantastic result that demonstrates the importance of our primary industries to our economy, and confirms we are on track to grow the value of Tasmania’s agriculture sector to $10 billion a year by 2050 - driving investment and creating local jobs when our State needs them most in our recovery from COVID-19. The report also confirms our fresh produce is in demand, with the value of packed and processed food production increasing to $4.86 billion, and international agri-food exports reaching a record high value of $768 million. It demonstrates the strong demand for our world-class premium produce across the world, with Tasmania producing 4.5 times more food than is consumed domestically. We are continuing to implement a range of initiatives to ensure these great results continue, with the Budget confirming funding of $1.9 million over two years for the Agricultural Workforce Resilience package that has been critical in encouraging Tasmanians to roll their sleeves up through the Tassie Harvest Jobs, Take Your Pick campaign. We are also delivering on our ongoing commitments through our comprehensive Agri-Food Growth Plan for 2018-2023 which recognises the importance of agriculture to the State’s economy and sets out the blueprint to ensure it can continue to grow. The Report responds to stakeholder feedback in relation to capturing the value of some Tasmanian agricultural industries, and we have worked closely with industry and sought data from both the ABS and other reliable sources to provide a broader understanding of Tasmanian agriculture. The 2018-19 Tasmanian Agri-Food Scorecard can be viewed online at: www.dpipwe.tas.gov.au/scorecards

04.01.2022 Elise Archer MP, Minister for Building and Construction. 29 September 2020 Thousands of Tasmanians find cheaper fuel prices ... The Tasmanian Government remains committed to reducing the cost of living for all Tasmanians. Since launching the Fuel Price Reporting Scheme earlier this month, approximately 10,000 Tasmanians have utilised the technology (website and app) to access real-time fuel prices and find the best deal for fuel around the State. All Tasmanians are encouraged to download the free app. The combined market power of motorists is expected to drive down prices at the fuel bowser. Under the scheme, fuel retailers are now required to update their prices as soon as changes occur, providing a vastly enhanced level of transparency for consumers. More than 230 fuel retailers have registered for the scheme, creating real competition for the motorist dollar, and Tasmanian fuel retailers are urged to ensure that any global price reductions are passed on to consumers as a matter of priority. The ‘Fuel Check Tas’ app is available for free download at the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, or to access the website visit www.fuelcheck.tas.gov.au

04.01.2022 Peter Gutwein, Premier 16 November 2020 Tasmanian response to Adelaide COVID-19 cluster... The health and safety of Tasmanians remains our number one priority, and we have taken immediate precautionary action today in response to the COVID-19 cluster in Adelaide. Today has been a stark reminder of the unforgiving nature of COVID-19, and we will continue to take a proactive and responsible approach to managing our borders, scaling up or down swiftly as needed, to manage risk. As South Australia Health works rapidly to contact trace and test, Public Health officials in Tasmania have determined South Australia a ‘medium risk jurisdiction’ for passengers coming into our state tonight via air and tomorrow morning on the Spirit of Tasmania. This means they will need to go into quarantine either in a suitable residence, or government hotel. Given the short timeframe for notice, the Tasmanian Government will pay for those required to hotel quarantine. This includes a scheduled cohort of seasonal workers due to arrive in Tasmania from the Adelaide area. Anyone who has arrived in Tasmania and has spent time in South Australia since 7 November 2020 must self-isolate in their residence or accommodation and await advice from Public Health officials. Public Health also advises anyone in Tasmania who has been in the Lyell McEwin Hospital in Adelaide’s northern suburbs since last Friday 13 November to come forward for a COVID-19 test. I also want to remind people that if you are seriously ill or in need of emergency assistance, please don’t hesitate to call 000 and outline your circumstances to the operators and you will receive assistance. Anyone who has arrived in Tasmania from South Australia since 7 November should be alert for symptoms and contact the Public Health Hotline to arrange a test if they experience any, even if they are mild. In addition, anyone who has arrived in Tasmania from South Australia since 7 November and wants to be tested for coronavirus, even without experiencing symptoms, should contact the Public Health Hotline and a test will be arranged. It is important we take these immediate and decisive steps to protect Tasmanians. South Australia’s contact tracing specialists are currently working to understand the nature of the outbreak, and we will be in a better position to provide a further update tomorrow when we have additional information. For more information and updates, visit the coronavirus website at www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au

01.01.2022 Today all Tasmanians’ thoughts are with the victims of the Port Arthur tragedy, their loved ones, friends and the Tasman community. Twenty-five years ago lives ...were taken, lives were changed forever and hearts were broken. Our thoughts are also with our first responders, our emergency services and those who gave so much. None of us will ever forget the 35 lives lost, and those who still bear the physical and emotional toll.
