18.01.2022 Hello, We know the impact that our Educators have to the children, families and fellow colleagues is vast. Wednesday 4 September is Early Childhood Educators Da...y, an opportunity for us to acknowledge the important role our educators play in educating and caring for children and families. To help us recognise this impact, this year we invite families, children and all internal employees to recognise and nominate Educators across all of our services against the following category: Making an incredible impact to the lives of Children To make your nomination here is the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Early_Childhood_Educators_Da These nominations will close on the28 th of August 2019.

16.01.2022 Over recent weeks we have been doing some planning around the green house and garden beds at the centre. The children have been clearing and tidying in preparation for planting herbs and flowers. The herbs will be raised in the green house and there are plans for flowers outside in the garden beds. The children have been learning about composting and over the coming weeks will see how the compost has supported the growth of our herbs and flowers. This project fits in very nicely to our environmental awareness. I would like to extend an invitation to anyone that would like to support this project.

12.01.2022 The world of families is changing. At Nido we support children’s social and emotional development in order for children to cope well when they start school. We encourage parents to be aware of the ways in which they can help their child. This short article explains what is most important for your child’s successful school start. Surprisingly it isn’t reading or maths! Please attend one of our parent evenings or request a meeting with your child’s teachers at Nido to discuss what’s best for your child and why. https://thesector.com.au//heres-what-teachers-look-for-wh/

10.01.2022 Dear Families and Friends, It has been a strange time for us all. I would like to take a moment in commending the team and families for such flexibility and continual collaboration that has ensured the health, safety and maintaining of consistent continuity for the children as much as possible in these trying times. There have also been many positives to come out, which have brought to light our ability to support each other and put emphasis on the importance of connection wi...th family and friends. What better time to express that love and appreciation than Mother's Day! We truly hope everyone has a lovely day this Sunday and all the incredible women in our lives are shown how loved they are with plenty of special treatment that is so well deserved. Happy Mother's Day

05.01.2022 The Kinder children discovered a bird’s nest in our Nido garden and demonstrated great interest in observing and exploring it further. The birds’ nest was an inquiry-based project, wherein, the children were provided with a range of experiences to engage with and learn from. We began with an inquiry based on three underlying questions - What do you see? - What do you think? and ... - What do you wonder/want to know more about? With the help of these questions we got the group to have discussions about how birds build their nests, the materials used, time taken to build the nest, etc. The children then participated in a spontaneous activity of collecting and building their own nests using only wooden blocks and they timed themselves to predict how long birds might take to do the same. After they were done building, we observed it as a group and discussed different aspects of the nest such as Was the nest safe enough from other predators, the strength of the nest, size and shape, etc. As an extension, we presented different videos to the children on how a range of birds build their nests, the materials they use, the shapes/sizes of their nests and the strength of the nests. Children also had the opportunity of engaging in observational drawings of different birds’ nests. As a conclusion to our bird’s nest project, the children were given the opportunity to explore the community around them by going on an excursion to the Valley Reserve Park. Whilst on this excursion the children were able to observe, learn from and explore natural habitats of different birds. They also collected materials from around the park to take back to Kinder which would later be used to create their own birds’ nests.

04.01.2022 As parents and educators our natural instinct is to keep our children safe and avoid all scrapes, bumps and bruises especially with our youngest babies. This article helps explain why, at Nido, we offer all children some physical challenge every day in our safe outdoor space. Parents, please support us by appreciating the vital importance of providing physical challenge for your child. Being safe need not steal adventure from young children - adventure so essential to their longer term development and learning. Today is a wonderful sunny day. I encourage families to find a beautiful piece of nature around Melbourne to enjoy, and spend precious time with one other on this Sunday. https://1000hoursoutside.com//the-hidden-risks-of-avoiding

01.01.2022 9890 locations Australia wide participated in Simultaneous Story Time, and Nido Clayton was one of them. Encouraging reading and literacy is an important priority of ours so our community sharing the "Alpacas with Maracas" story all at the same time was an enjoyable way to emphasise the pleasure and purpose of reading. For families - the Alpacas story series are easily available in local stores. Help us to continue the enjoyment
