19.01.2022 How did this miserable winters day get into the middle of #magicmarch. Swimming cancelled today. Sorry folks, wont be much fun at the pool today #nlasc #swimclub

19.01.2022 It's with a very heavy heart that we write to say that we cannot continue with the rest of our swimming season. We will be in touch about presentation day and hopefully it won't be too long before we're all together again. In the meantime, take care, stay safe and stay home.

18.01.2022 Hard to believe that its already time to organise the Head above Water 24 swimathon. Head Above Water is a fantastic organisation working to reduce the rate of suicide on the Northern Beaches. This year's swimathon will start at 8am on Saturday 20th March and finishing at 8am on Sunday 21st March 21 at Collaroy Rock Pool. This year they are also holding 10 sided relay races between 8-9.30pm, and we've been told by Wardy that our very own Anne Jenkins holds the trophy. We believe online registrations are closing very very soon (maybe as soon as Friday), so please let us know if you are keen to take part in either the relay or the the marathon itself. Registration details are: https://www.headabovewater.com.au/about and this year they are also asking for volunteers: https://signup.com/c/invitation2/secure/398018516013/false

18.01.2022 Let’s try this championship day thing again. Please register at 1pm and we’ll start racing at 1.30. #queuerain #nlasc #championshipday #swimforlife #rockpools

17.01.2022 Magic March is here and it looks like we’ve got a stunning day ahead for swim club. Had to share this from our stroll last night around our beloved pool. How lucky are we to call this home?! #magicbeach #narrabeenlagoon #nlasc

17.01.2022 Anyone out there recognise people on these pics? Also interesting pics of our clubs history

17.01.2022 Yay. Yay. Yay. Our beloved rockpool is open again. But there are restrictions - max 10 people in the pool at a time, change rooms are closed and parking is restricted to 1 hour. This gives us ample time to bust out some laps and ensure that our beautiful pool is accessible to everyone. . . .... #covid19 #swimforlife #narrabeen #rockpool #nlasc

And congratulations to all our swimmers that won medals - Rueben, Cam, Jodie and Elisa. Freshwater ASC put on an awesome meet and WASA assured us they sorted the weather. Thanks to both organisations for putting on this carnie that we all enjoy so much.

09.01.2022 Due to Ms Rona's restrictions, we had to change up how we celebrate the achievements of our swimmers, and will hold presentation day at the conclusion of OUR FIRST DAY BACK AT SWIMMING 24 OCTOBER (wahooey babalooey)... Because we can't use the clubhouse, this presentation will be weather dependent. Additionally, there will be no tombola or feast. We will replace that this year with air kisses, jazz hands and raucous cheering. We can't wait to see you all back at swim club. We are working closely with the council and WASA to ensure we can keep doing what we love best in a safe manner. Stay tuned for more info...

05.01.2022 Hi fellow swimmers, We acknowledge the growing concern and need to implement procedures to stop the spread of COVID-19. We also acknowledge the many advantages ocean swimming provides to both physical and mental wellbeing. As such, the NLASC swim is currently proceeding as normal. This situation may change, depending on future circumstances. We request that all swimmers inform themselves about the COVID-19 virus, and evaluate the potential risks involved in swimming.... COVID-19 has no friends and anybody can contract the disease, however people in the older age groups or with pre-existing health conditions have a greater likelihood of serious illness or even death. NO ONE has immunity to this disease. We all as individuals have a public health responsibility to try to help keep everyone safe. For these reasons we would like all swimmers to please practice the following: Avoid bringing just arrived overseas guests to swimming until after their 14-day self-isolation period Any swimmer with cold/flu like symptoms or who has just returned from overseas to remain at home and not swim. Enjoy your post swim icy pole/catch up whilst practicing social distancing' Restrain from physical contact with fellow swimmers (alas no high fiving) All in all, please practice social distancing and good personal hygiene; wash your hands, sneeze/cough into a tissue or your elbow and keep your hands away from your face as much as possible. We intend to disinfect and wipe down all surfaces that we use IE: pens/folders/table/computer/printer/stopwatches etc. This is a fast developing situation and we will continue to monitor and update as required. For more information on restrictions and updates from the Chief Medical Officer visit https://preview.nsw.gov.au/novel-coronavirus-covid-19 I personally spoke with my doctor who is an avid rockpool/ocean swimmer and she has assured me that thus far it is perfectly safe to swim as long as we adhere to the above. Here is our schedule for tomorrow: SATURDAY 21 March 2020 *BACKSTROKE CHAMPIONSHIP 200m Freestyle (special) 15m and 50m Freestyle 15; 25; 50; 100m Breaststroke 15; 25; 50; 100m *BREASTROKE CHAMPIONSHIP 200m Because we want to catch up with as many championship events as possible you will note we have 2 listed on this program. Yours in swimming and on behalf of NLASC committee Deb G

05.01.2022 We can’t wait wait either!! Only five more sleeps till we’re back. Looking forward to seeing you all and kicking off our season. We’ll have a few extra rules to keep us all covid safe. Stay tuned for more info via email or visit our website. #nlasc #swimmingforlife #rockpool #swimclub #familytime

04.01.2022 End of season party after swimming this weekend! Bring a plate and a drink. Casual swims for the following 2 weeks.

04.01.2022 A note from Andrew regarding the swimathonThe weather is forecast for showers, mostly on Saturday afternoon, but our assumption is that whilst it may change slightly we should try and plan as best we can for it. There will be a marquee for you to leave your bags / gear for protection from the weather should you need it. The wind is forecast to come from the South / South West so Collaroy Pool will be somewhat protected which is a great thing. At this stage the swim is on... but of course we will be guided by The Collaroy Surf Club who are our qualified water safety officers for the event. Please check our Facebook page regularly for any changes in proceedings. Its a good idea to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your swim time as parking is limited and we want to ensure you have plenty of time to get yourself ready. When you arrive, please head to the Registration Desk to sign your waiver form and receive your complimentary swim cap and wrist band. Youll then be directed to the Swim Marshalls who will ensure youre cleared to swim in the correct lane. The lanes will be clearly marked so please ensure you jump in the lane you have registered for. Yourge more than welcome to bring water bottles / swim gear to the lane to use during your swim. The usual swim rules apply - swim down the left hand side of the lane, watch out for other swimmers at all times and most of all enjoy yourself. You can jump out of the pool early if you wish. Please dont hesitate to see one of the Volunteers if you need help with anything. Once you have completed your swim, head to the BBQ for food or grab a coffee from Taste Deli across the road (50c from every coffee will be donated to Head Above Water). We will also have people there from Man Anchor. You can also get a free massage from the Mosman Physio team at various times throughout the event. Remember to bring warm clothes. Cant wait to see you down there for the event and thanks so much again for your support of the first 24 Hour Swimathon!
