21.01.2022 Today, Wednesday 29th April at 5:40 pm, many CFA brigades across Victoria will sound their sirens four times. Each siren sounding will represent and honour the... brave members of Victoria Police who lost their lives in the line of duty in Kew at 5:40 pm Wednesday 22nd April 2020. If you hear sirens at 5:40pm this afternoon there is no reason to be alarmed. We encourage community members to utilise this time to take a moment to reflect and remember the sacrifice made by Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Josh Prestney and Constable Glen Humphris.

05.01.2022 Did you know an unattended campfire can turn into a bushfire in a matter of minutes? This is a fire modelling scenario that starts with an unattended campfire t...hrowing an ember into the dry bush on a hot and windy day. The small red spots are the embers being thrown in front of the fire, causing it to spread rapidly due to the windy conditions. This is why we’re reminding you if you’re planning to go camping this weekend and light a campfire, make sure you’re familiar with the safety rules, including never lighting a campfire on a day of Total Fire Ban and never leaving your campfire unattended. In state forests, use a purpose-built fireplace if provided, otherwise use a trench greater than 30 cm deep. The campfire must not exceed one square metre, while three metres in the air and on the ground around your fire must be clear of flammable material. Branches and logs on your campfire must not exceed one metre in length Stay within 50m and in sight of your campfire Campfires must be extinguished with water, not soil, as fires can still smoulder under soil. If a fire is cool to touch, it is safe to leave. If you light a campfire, you are legally responsible for ensuring it is safe penalties apply to those who breach the rules. Our authorised officers will be patrolling state forests, reserves and parks across the state, targeting illegal campfires to prevent bushfires being started by negligence. 03.01.2022 Tomorrow the forecast Fire Danger Rating in West & South Gippsland is Extreme. Tomorrow is also a Total Fire Ban. What does it mean? Expect extremely hot, dry and windy conditions.... If a fire starts and takes hold, it will be uncontrollable, unpredictable and fast moving. Spot fires will start, move quickly and come from many directions. What should you do? Consider staying with your property only if you are prepared to the highest level. This means your home needs to be situated and constructed or modified to withstand a bushfire, you are well prepared and you can actively defend your home if a fire starts If you are not prepared to the highest level, leaving high risk bushfire areas early in the day is your safest option. You can find out more here: https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnin/about-fire-danger-ratings

So even though youre not seeing much of us right now, well still be turning out to emergencies whenever you need us. All you need to do is call 000.
