21.01.2022 Which is why all guests are in nature #noosanationalpark or #noosabiosphere #mainbeachnoosa every single day. #Repost @foundmyfitness Being outdoors in nature has profound effects on the brain that improve mental health. A controlled experiment found that people who spent 90 minutes walking in nature experienced decreased rumination and negative feelings. They also had decreased activity in a brain region associated with maladaptive thought and behavioral withdrawal compa...red to people that walked for 90 minutes in an urban area. Rumination refers to the mind dwelling on negative thoughts. Not only is rumination associated with depression, but it has also been linked to accelerated telomere shortening and premature aging. Since individuals that walked outdoors also experience decreased activity in the subgenual prefrontal cortex which is an area of the brain that is active during maladaptive thought and behavioral withdrawal, this provides a potential mechanism by which being in nature reduces rumination. While the people that walked for 90 minutes in an urban environment did not experience these benefits, we can still all agree that exercise is good for the brain. However, exercising in nature seems to have added benefits for mental health. I'm about to head off on a trail run. There is no greater feeling than a run outside in nature. I've also been doing much more hiking on trails with my family including my 3-year old. It has really helped improve our quality of life during the pandemic. Hope you all can carve a little time out each week to spend some time in nature! #optoutside #nature #greenspace #mentalhealth

20.01.2022 This is our director and case manager. I guess the tee says it all... she can frequently be found having some pretty ROBUST DISCUSSIONS with our clients because we take a no BS, no religious agenda, no tip toeing around, give it kind of approach at NC. That often means reflecting back some some #radicalhonesty and #accountability to ensure you get where you say you’re committed to going. Your #recovery and #personalaccountability is our promise to you... and not just when y...ou’re living in but for a full year post program. It’s a marathon... not a sprint and if you’re ready to dive in and get real, get #sober and get back in touch with who you were before the world told you who you should be... give us a call or DM via this page. #rehab #recovery #mediation #burnout #depression #anxiety #ocd #addiction #guthealth #inflammation #sobreity #marriage #mediation See more

19.01.2022 #appreciationpost Shelly and Allesandra are very important and long-standing members of our team of support staff who comfort and entertain and transport and listen to our clients between their sessions and make them feel cared for and normal (whatever that is!) at an often challenging time of life. Sometimes just a drive to the beach for a chat, with a cuppa or with one of the many pooches out support staff bring to work is just what you need! #carers #support #mentalhealth #rehab #recovery #addiction #depression #anxiety #ocd #nutritionalmedicine #animaltherapy #nurture

17.01.2022 About. F’ing time!!!

16.01.2022 #Repost @holly Yesterday I saw a lot of memes in response to what happened in DC that said Dry January was canceled, or rather, let’s drink bc today is hard. We think that hard and difficult and painful are reasons to leave our bodies, instead of reasons to stay. We think we are safer not experiencing our emotions, not witnessing, not feeling. Ask yourself: who benefits from that? Because I promise it isn’t you.... We are a people who have been taught that peak experiences aren’t to be experienced. We are a people who have been taught that feeling anything wrong or strong is a thing to be avoided. We are a people who have been trained to think not feeling is preferable, that suffering is a signal of malfunction, when the truth is feeling is WHY we are here and suffering is what makes our bones. When I drank, it was almost always drinking at what I didn’t want to feel. I drank at the boredom, at the loss, at the fear, at the inadequacy, at the loneliness, at the sex I didn’t want, at the excitement I couldn’t handle. I drank at death and I drank at life and I drank at rejection and I drank at mildly uncomfortable. And what this really means is that any time something arose in me, any time a feeling came knocking to run itself through me, to show me a bit more about myself, I said no thank you, I’d rather not. And what this really means is that I didn’t metabolize life. I didn’t let life and beauty work it’s hands on me. I stayed small, I stayed afraid, I stayed unmade, with a growing collection of emotions that wanted to make me into a wiser, kinder, whole-er human that I kept in a jar. I chose small and unfeeling, instead of life. The reason addiction was a teacher, was b/c it was the thing I couldn’t outrun. And b/c I couldn’t outrun it, I opened the jar, and I finally learned what happens when you stay, which is everything I was looking for everywhere else. All here. If quitting drinking feels hard, that’s b/c quitting drinking IS hard; becoming is hard, staying is hard. We spend our whole lives avoiding hard, until we learn, hard is where we are found. When you want to run, remember, this is the edge we’ve been looking for; you are strong enough to stay

12.01.2022 We’ve been open and supporting clients to change their lives for almost TWELVE YEARS now and now most of our clients are referred or recommended by a previous client... the foundation of our work is the relationship and respect we build WITH the client with an ongoing commitment to support for years to come. Similarly our staff has grown over the years, however we have built from a core team which has remained our solid base for therapy and support services since day 1. In th...e more than a decade that we’ve been open we have had NINE BABIES born to our team... they’ve taken time off and returned. We have husband and wife teams and their hounds that frequent the houses... we are truly a family and our clients are the extension of that and THAT combined with the most up to date therapeutic approaches and modalities is what makes NOOSA confidential the best in the biz. #recovery #addiction #rehab #depression #anxiety #mediation #burnout #mentalhealth #nutrition #chronicpain See more

11.01.2022 Sell your cleverness for bewilderment... get curious, drop your NEED TO KNOW. the need to control, to know, to be comfortable is NOT helpful or healthy... #anxiety is a VERB. it’s not something you have it’s something you do and you CAN cultivate your capacity to DO it less and less. #anxiety #depression #mentalhealth #recovery #rehab #addiction #relationships #connection #mindfulness #neuroscience

07.01.2022 At Noosa confidential we treat chronic pain as commonly as we treat addiction because frequently the two go hand-in-hand particularly with prescribed medication reliance. We have a pain specialist who help re-educate our clients around the psychology of pain and works closely with our psychologists to rewire the brain and change your behaviours around your body movement and your mindset. It is transformational
