13.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who joined in for our online ARAP this evening (Annual Report and Awards Presentation). This is a time that we come together to celebrate our last 12 months of Scouting. It was great to see many of our families as well as several special visitors. A special mention to:... - Daniella Traglieri, Deputy Chief Commissioner Scouts Victoria - Wayne Gunn, Region Commissioner - Ian Munro, Assistant Region Commissioner Development - Cameron Pearce, Venturer Scout Commissioner Region - Richard Trainor, Geelong Rivers District Leader for Cubs - Valerie Morrell, Barwon District Leader for Cubs - Counsellor Anthony Aitkins, City of Greater Geelong Thank you to our Leaders who give so much of their time to running great programs for our youth members. I spent a bit of time over the weekend looking through all of the photos in this Group and reflecting on just how much fun we have had and all the new and different things we have experienced. All of our Leaders are volunteers who take time away from their families and personal commitments to take other people's children on amazing adventures and teach them lots of new things. Thank you for taking on the challenge to learn the new requirements of Scouts Australia program changes and for taking up new learning and training opportunities. All of which result in even better opportunities for the young people in our community. Thank you to our committee members for all your hard work. You guys run this Group without the fun stuff. The committee spend so much time sourcing funding through grants, fundraising, donations and sponsorship; paying bills; organising equipment and supplies; maintaining hall and grounds maintenance and repairs; constantly searching for new PR opportunities and getting our name and message out into the community; doing the tedious things like cleaning, stock take, reorganising storage; connecting with community groups for hall hire and the associated ongoing jobs from that; managing our assets, insurance, OHS obligations and constantly looking for opportunities for our Group. Even then, you put your hand up to cook meals at camp and clean and pack away gear. Seriously, what would we do without you?! Thank you to our families and youth members for joining us on all these adventures. Although Scouting is supposed to be providing a service to our community, really, it is you who brings so much joy to us the volunteers. I can't tell you how much fun it has been to go on these adventures together. I love all the unique personalities of our members and watching them challenge themselves to try new things. Looking forward to a return to outdoor face- to- face Scouting next week! Woo hoo! Yours in Scouting, Kim Brian Group Leader Ps. Membership is free until March 2021. Tell your friends ;)
