25.01.2022 OUR CLUB, IS YOUR CLUB Surf Life Saving Clubs are at the heart of many communities across Australia including right here in Normanville. Volunteer surf lifesavers started beach patrols last weekend and will continue patrolling the 8km of beach from Carrickalinga to Lady Bay on every weekend and public holiday from now until Easter Monday 2021.... With beaches expected to be busier than ever this summer, we need more volunteers in a range of roles. You don't have to be 6-feet tall. You don't have to get up every morning and train. You don't even have to get your toes wet. There are many opportunities within Surf Life Saving for people of varied ages and abilities to become involved and contribute to the patrolling and behind the scenes capability of Surf Life Saving, not all of which involve donning the red and yellow. At any age you could be an official, athlete, coach, fundraiser, junior activities supervisor, trainer and assessor, rescue boat driver, radio operator, committee member, or BBQ chef, said SLSSA President John Baker. For more information on how to join the Normanville Surf Life Saving Club click here www.sls.com.au/join or visit our website https://normanvilleslsc.org.au/ Video courtesy of Surf Life Saving SA & Surf Life Saving Australia.

Due to the generous support provided by Westpac, a dedicated helicopter concentrates on patrolling South Australia's coastline providing comfort and security to the many visitors to our shoreline. The South Australian Government is also a key supporter of the service, providing support funding to extend the hours of operation being provided by the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter service to the South Australian community." 01.01.2022 Beach Safety Tips Always swim between the flags. The yellow and red flags indicate the safest place to swim during times that the beach is patrolled. If you are unsure of water conditions, ask one of our Beach Patrol members. Don’t swim immediately after a meal. Don’t swim under the influence of alcohol or drugs.... Never run or dive in the water. If you get into difficulty when in the water, stay calm. Signal for help by holding up one arm and waving. Please keep our beach clean and place rubbish in a bin or take it home with you.
