24.01.2022 This Sunday is All Saints Day and we remember all who have gone before us. We remember those who have been Blessed by God and through their works and engagement and love and acceptance of God’s Blessing have, in turn blessed us at North Ryde. We remember; Harold Jefferies, Alan Garlick, Noel Goodsell, C. Torvell, Eric Gifford, Jock Young, Beth Kelsey, Winston O’Reilly, Grahame Ellis, Warwick Cadenhead, Jill Ison, Mata Hiliau and most recently James Aaron. These ministers and leaders along with the hundreds of unnamed members of this congregation are our Blessed Saints. (Image: 'Tibouchina in memory of Bill Shearer' photographed by Vicki Morton)

16.01.2022 In North Ryde we worship on the land of the Wallumattagul. We offer respect to the elders and leaders, past, present and emerging from this area and from wherever you may be viewing this post. We give thanks for stewardship of place, and commit ourselves to relationship and reconciliation of all people and all creation. In the spirit of reconciliation, North Ryde Community Church recognises and supports NAIDOC Week which is held across Australia to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

04.01.2022 Each year on this day Australians observe one minute’s silence at 11am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. The Flanders poppy has long been a part of Remembrance Day, the ritual that marks the Armistice of 11 November 1918, and is also increasingly being used as part of Anzac Day observances. During the First World War, red poppies were among the first plants to spring up in the devastated battlefields of northern France and Belgium. In s...oldiers' folklore, the vivid red of the poppy came from the blood of their comrades soaking the ground. The sight of poppies on the battlefield at Ypres in 1915 moved Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae to write the poem In Flanders Fields. In English literature of the nineteenth century, poppies had symbolised sleep or a state of oblivion; in the literature of the First World War a new, more powerful symbolism was attached to the poppy the sacrifice of shed blood.
