25.01.2022 Christmas 2020.

22.01.2022 Christmas is coming! If you need parenting orders for Christmas 2020 you need to have these preferably filed by the end of October. That's just over 7 weeks away. In Western Australia, the Case Management Guidelines state that the cut off to file applications in the Family Court in time for Christmas is by the close of registry on the second Friday of November each year.... This year that means the application date for Christmas 2020 is the 13th of November (9 weeks away). However even this does not guarantee that you will have your matter before the court in time, hence why we urge clients to have their applications in by the end of October each year. Each year we have a last minute run of people trying to make last minute applications or arrangements. Each year we also notice that by mid-October people become distracted with the better weather and pending Christmas and they neglect to give attention to this important consideration. If YOU HAVE CURRENT ORDERS, now is very good time to read them to ensure that the Christmas spend time arrangements are satisfactory and do not need changing... If they are not okay... Call us. For more information email our office at [email protected] or Call 0409 633 961 or 9621 1073. (The above is not intended to be legal advice)

20.01.2022 Please note: Northam Family Lawyers will not be doing face to face appointments from Tuesday for at least 2 weeks. All staff will be working remotely. We will be offering appointments via telephone or video conferencing via Zoom.... We do lots of work physically in Perth therefore the social distancing is about protecting our staff and clients alike. Our office can be contacted directly on 9621 1073, or 0409 633 961, or by email at [email protected] All current court dates and programmed appointments will continue unless otherwise directed by the courts or the Legal Pratice Board. Kind regards, NFL

09.01.2022 It is quite timely that Northam Family Lawyers has been road testing remote client legal appointments. Have a read and share. Yes. we still do face-to-face appointments, but the reality is that not all people can make the trip to Northam.

05.01.2022 As at Friday 13 March 2020, the Family Court of WA has started to reduced non-essential face-to-face court appearances as much as possible. We can confirm that a senior court official yesterday advised that the Court was in the process of upgrading the incoming court phone system. If you have an upcoming Family Court date, make sure you file a "Request to attend by electronic communication" form at least 2 clear business days with the court via the e-courts portal or by post...ing to: Principal Registrar Family Court of Western Australia GPO Box 9991 PERTH WA 6848 If you are filing by post allow extra time for the post. The Courts preference is that people do not file documents in person to reduce contact for Court staff. Please note: You cannot file by email, and you cannot make a request by telephone, by calling the court.

04.01.2022 We are glad that everyone is safe and that our community (it appears) may have dodged a massive bullet. We acknowledge that it is still early days, but every finger crossed. We are happy to announce that our office is again open. (Although we never actually close, we merely removed our staff from the community so there were less humans around to cause problems for others). ... We are doing office face-to-face appointments by appointment only until Tuesday, 28 April 2020, after which time our office will be open to all public walk in enquiries. In the meantime....
