24.01.2022 With the season now having wrapped up the Max Meyer Trophy for the Golden Boot goes to Isabella Bonaccorso from the Girls 14B Flaming Chillies scoring 24 goals in the 2020 season. The award was presented to Isabella by NFC Vice President Ryan Gonsalves who said he was going to ask for some tips on how to score so many goals. The girls had a very successful 2020 season and ended up the premiers of G14 Division 2 competition.... This is the second year of the Max Meyer Trophy, with last year’s inaugural winner Jesse Dei Agnoli of the then U14B, scoring 37 goals in the 19 games. The Max Meyer Award is an annual award that is presented to the highest goal scorer each season in the Academy/Community U12 to U18 mixed and girls age groups. I am the 2021 girls sap coordinator When did you first get involved, and why? This year is my first official volunteer role; i have had at least one daughter in the sap program since 2016. What does it mean to you to give up some of your time each week in support of the club? Why are you passionate about doing it? It gives me a chance to do my bit. I have learned from the experience and hard work of others and now I get to add my knowledge to the collective pot that makes up the club. add to this my passion for supporting and promoting sport for girls. 13.01.2022 Reserves: 3-1 (win) Firsts: 4-2 (win) Cometh the man cometh the hour. When the chips were down and the Northbridge MAAPL reserves squad were looking for a leader, up stepped Tom Lawbron Law to bag a brace, doubling his goal tally from last season. A part time comedian and the squads resident funny guy, Tom swapped the jokes for clinical goals to cap off a well deserved 3-1 victory for the reserves.... With the momentum and energy from the first game, the first grade squad turned on the heat right from the get go with a neat passage of play seeing low shot from skipper Michael Coley Cole parried into the eager path of young gun Kallen Ferrero to slot home from 2 yards out. From there a towering header from midfield don Blake Serafin, a tidy finish from Rick Woodward and a late penalty from Luke Tyson clinically placed in the bottom corner was enough to seal the icing on the cake and tear away with a 4-2 victory. Notable mentions go out to our Man of the Match and club stalwart Matt Alessi who’s tireless efforts in the second half saw the Barker defence on ice skates as he twisted and turned them inside & out. 10.01.2022 What a weekend it was for the Northbridge MAAPL squad, with the squad ravaged with injuries and the odds against them, reserve grade put on one of the great comebacks to end the match 3-3 against a full-strength Berowra outfit on a freezing night up the M1. A notable mention must go to Sam "Papa Morts" Morton who used his considerable height advantage and agility to clinically head a corner into the top bins to put the reserves ahead late in the game. For first grade it was a... night to forget, going down against a quality opposition. With all to play for this weekend, the squad has re-focused and made sure they are ready to go against an always sturdy West Pymble side at Koola Park! With some stars returning to the side and the lads itching to get back out on the park, they will give it everything they've got to ensure the 6 points heads back home to Northbridge.
