22.01.2022 Businesses, have you ever got an official looking letter like this and wondered if it was legit? (Usually straight after registering a business name.) It is designed to look like a bill - so you feel pressured to pay it.. because you don't want to jeopardise your business name registration.. right? Don't stress, not paying this WILL NOT affect your business name registration (through ASIC). This is just a Spam letter.... This is just an expensive website domain name offer.. Though in this case the business had already purchased the domain name, so it wasn't Registry Australia's to offer. P.s. also a (website) domain name does not include the website hosting. That is usually a seperate package, and generally costs more.

20.01.2022 BEWARE of phone calls from "Home Affairs", using recorded messages claiming that your identity has been used in some federal offences, and they have an warrant for your arrest. They then ask you to press '1' to speak to an agent. It is a SCAM, so hang up, straight away. DO NOT give them *any* information. How do we know?... - the accent. - they wouldn't be calling from Home Affairs. It would be AFP if it was legit. - our AFP don't call you with a recorded messages. - you wouldn't have a warrant on possible fraud without being contacted by a AFP Officer for an interview first. - if they really had a legit warrant (because you were guilty), you wouldn't get a warning. They would be on your doorstep with it. So hang up.
