20.01.2022 WEEKEND FIXTURES Not long to go in the season now, so get on down and support your club mates this weekend.

19.01.2022 PRESIDENT’S UPDATE With the most unusual and challenging season behind us I thought I'd put fingers to keyboard to give you a few observations as your new president. My name is Alan Oldfield, for those who don’t know me I play in the vets and have been an NCR member since 1997. I am also proudly part of a three generation family here at the Club. ... Firstly I want to give a huge thanks to Craig and the 2020 NCR Board for the way they managed the club and the resumption of the game we love in the middle of the pandemic, well done!!! This year as a newbie I'm very lucky to have retained the majority of last years board (and even those who have stepped down from a board position will be doing great things in other areas of the club). My thoughts on what's ahead for 2021: Craig Vallipuram, Greg Morton (Moose) and Travis Lester have put us in the best position to realise the thing we have been working towards for over 30 years - a synthetic turf at our home grounds (not Charles Riley). We are very close to getting to the starting line for a turf project, while that may sound a little disheartening the thing about a starting line is that the track you have to run is clearly defined and all that's needed is the hard work to get to the finish line. To achieve that goal we need to do three simple things: 1. Continue to run the club in an excellent manner - play well, remain financially strong and be recognised as the club deserving of the opportunity in the City of Stirling; 2. Contribute positively to the turf project - maintain good relationships with the City of Stirling Council and Officers, Hockey WA, and relevant State MPs and raise our share of the funds; 3. Decide who we want to be as a club in 10-years time. This may sound like a strange thing to be saying but... getting a turf won't make us play any better, it won't make us more respected in the hockey fraternity, it won't make us more social or fun to be around, those things are created by the culture that we all decide we want and demonstrate every time we're in hockey circles (pun intended). Our club motto is #raiders4life, the real test of that will be how our membership fronts up to the challenges of working to get a turf that we are given the honour of calling HOME of RAIDERS sometime around or before 2025. These are exciting times! Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the North Coast Raiders Hockey Club. AO Alan Oldfield President North Coast Raiders Hockey Club (m) 0407767289

19.01.2022 INDOOR JUNIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS We entered 3 teams in the HWA Indoor Junior Club Champs (2 girls and 1 boys team) which was held in Mundaring last week. Considering probably 95% of our players had never played Indoor before, they learnt really quickly and become very competitive against teams from other clubs. ... 18.01.2022 Congratulations to our 11/12A Promo girls who played in the Grand Final last night. It was a great team game played by all, and the girls were a credit to themselves and the club. 18.01.2022 UWA ROAD CLOSURES There will be some road closures around the UWA turfs for part of this weekend. Please read the following closely to see if they affect your game.

17.01.2022 TURF UPDATE To all Members, After meeting with the City of Stirling (COS) on Friday past I can now update you as to where we are heading with the new artificial turf facility. Present at the meeting were representatives of NCR , HockeyWA and COS Directors and Managers. The meeting was very positive and we believe achieved a significant outcome for the club. ... The COS has stated that it does have an obligation to build a turf facility within the Council's boundaries and that NCR, having been the driving force behind this, will be the primary beneficiary of this facility. What does this mean? The first step is the City will look to find a suitable site to accommodate the club's requirements while also looking at possible impacts to the surrounding area. It is important to note that COS, NOT NCR, will dictate where that site will be. This is a great result for the club but there is a lot of work still to be done and possibly some more hurdles to deal with before the club achieves its ultimate goal. Importantly, the COS has now given the club a commitment to build a turf facility which also has the backing of HockeyWA, as their support will be required for state government funding. The dream has moved a little closer to reality, Regards Craig Vallipuram President North Coast Raiders Hockey Club (m) 0410 811 561

10.01.2022 VIC PARK TURF Vic Park are trying to get a turf, and have asked us for help. It is our position as a club that the more turfs there are in WA, the better it is for hockey, and the more opportunities it gives all players and clubs to train and play on turf. As such we believe that we should support Vic Park in their efforts to get their own artificial surface. ... We have received the following from the President of their club, James Savundra, and urge you to put your weight behind their cause. Please note that submissions close next Tuesday - "As you probably know we have been looking for a turf of our own within our Town for many years. We are a few steps closer with the Higgins Park and Playfield Reserve Master Plan process which has been undertaken by the Victoria Park Town Council.
