20.01.2022 May is Cystic Fibrosis (CF) awareness month, an opportunity to shine a light on CF, a genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. We have been facilitating a Cystic Fibrosis Carer Support Group in the Macarthur area for over 15 years. The group is currently funded by a grant from the Mazda Foundation. Thanks to their generosity, this month the group had the chance to enjoy a great outing, watching Frozen, the musical. Rita's five-year-old son has c...ystic fibrosis. She says, Being part of this group is great. It gives us the opportunity to understand each other, share the ups and downs and learn from each other. Being able to have some time for myself and watch Frozen was amazing; it felt unreal." Read more: https://northcott.com.au/sharing-experiences-and-learnings/

18.01.2022 Last week we were delighted to finalise the integration of Creativity Inc into our family. This well-known and long-standing Eastern Suburbs disability services provider will now be known as Northcott Hillsdale and Northcott Rosebery. Earlier this year, we met Marie who has been a customer with Creativity Inc since she was a little girl. For our Annual Report, Marie shared what she loves about the Social Experiences program she's been participating in with Creativity Inc for... many years. I love [the Social Experiences program] because they help me be with my friends. I love going out to the club, dancing and talking to friends and other people. I also love the Christmas parties they have Karaoke and I love to sing and dance. Read Marie's story here: https://northcott.com.au/a-social-butterfly/
17.01.2022 Christmas is all around us! Customers and staff at one of our Condell Park disability houses had an amazing Christmas party. Thanks to the generous donation of local business Gemstar Automotive, customers in this house were able to celebrate Christmas in style. The house was decorated with a Christmas Candyland theme and everyone was honoured with the visit of Santa and a helper. The helper was a photographer too, which was great as there are lots of photos to remember th...e day. We will print a collection of photos and make a memory booklet that customers can enjoy. We have also purchased a Karaoke machine, that will go to good use beyond Christmas!, says Maree, Nurse Unit Manager at the Condell Park house. Customers’ family members were also part of the celebration, with all visitors commenting on the decorations, that really added to the enjoyment. Customer Kirri-Lee’s mother and grandmother said the decorations were beautiful, it really felt like Christmas. Customer Peter’s brother said Santa made it really special. Lots of fun and joy in the house, thanks to the contribution of a very generous local business.
