01.01.2022 The Australasian College for Cosmetic Surgeons said this means higher numbers of people are forced to get the work done in Australia. President Patrick Tansley said there is a much lower risk of something going wrong domestically, but it still requires some research 'As long as they choose their surgeon safely in this country they have a much better chance of being looked after properly than if they go abroad to low cost operators,' Dr Tansley said. ... But the doctor said part of the reason for a rising number of procedures is due to people spending more time on social media. 'If people have been at home, one of the common forms of media for investigating these surgeries is social media,' he explained. 'And I would caution potential patients to be very careful about the information they take from such a source. 'There simply is no substitute to seeing a doctor or a surgeon who is properly trained in cosmetic surgery and knows what they are doing.'
