21.01.2022 They beat their breasts and cried out loud, As they faced the northern wall, Where the selectors had placed the team selections On the notice board was their call. There were some that swore and some that cried,... And some who stood and muttered Some were proud, some were coy, And others merely stuttered. There were voices raised in anger, Shrill screams split the air, There were those who didnt say a thing, Because they really didnt care. I wont play with him, one said, Hes a bloody hopeless skip. And one who very quietly said, Its time I took my trip. There were many self selections, There were lots of bloody hells! There werent very many who said the Selectors had done well. The players knew who should be there, They knew who to pick, Just ask them when you hear them say, That selector is a $$##@!. Each year the tears get deeper, As on the floor they fall, From those who stand in anguish Before the wailing wall. See more

05.01.2022 Get a load of is fish, your in trouble ! Annoying Players In Possession Of The Mat. It is becoming louder and louder in the game especially at higher levels, and some use this "Loudness" to intentionally gain an advantage, often in team games has anyone noticed that as they are about to deliver some "Hero" from another rink screams at the top of their lungs "Comeon Sports (Enter team name), we can win" or words to that effect just as you are in the midst of... delivering, and its just enough to have the effect of distracting which probably was the intention anyhow, but the question is, is it really the sporting thing to do? When you read the laws, the Umpire can act, but would he? 13 Possession of the rink 13.1 Possession of the rink will belong to the player or team whose bowl is being played. 13.2 As soon as each bowl comes to rest, possession of the rink will transfer to the opposing player or team after allowing time for marking a toucher as soon as it comes to rest. 13.3 If the umpire, either by their own observation or on appeal by one of the skips or opponents in Singles, decides that the players in possession of the rink are being interfered with, annoyed or distracted in any way by their opponents, 13.3.1 the first time this happens the umpire must: 13.3.1.1 warn the offending player, while the skip is present; and 13.3.1.2 tell the coach, if they are present, that the player has received a warning. 13.3.2 on each occasion after this, the umpire must have the bowl last played by the offending player or team declared dead. If that bowl has disturbed the head, the opponent must choose whether to: 13.3.2.1 replace the head; 13.3.2.2 leave the head as altered; or 13.3.2.3 declare the end dead.

05.01.2022 Just a reminder to the members that club championship nominations are due in 2 weeks from today, good luck to all involved this year.

05.01.2022 BEWARE of the "HEADLESS CHOOK" I was wondering if Balnarring is the only Club with them ? How do you detect a Headless Chook is near you may ask.... 1. When you are on the mat, you hear the muffled sound from about 21 to 25 metres away. (The sound is usually a loud Clucking sound followed by "We are 3 down, get one close" ) 2. SILENCE, until your bowl has left your hand is halfway down the green. This is when the "Headless Chook" is in full flight. The Chook starts flapping its Wings (arms) and starts prancing around the rink "SQUAWKING" a... You are too narrow, take more grass. b.. You are too wide, take less grass. c.. You are too heavy. d. You are too short. 3. When your bowl has stopped, the "Headless Chook" looks around and struts over to the adjoining rink, complaining how badly he has been let down. The "Headless Chook" must think the rest of us must be Blind. We can see if we have not delivered that perfect bowl. We dont need to be Squaked at from the other end of the rink. Perhaps the "Hot Air" and the flapping of the Roosters wings, are trying to alter the line of the bowl whilst going down the green. (Aerodynamics perhaps.... I think not.) I do understand why the "Headless Chook" calls out whilst you are in you delivery stride. (We are 3 down) The "Headless Chook" wants you stand up quickly and deliver a short bowl, therefore blocking any other bowl getting close and you can not go down by more.
