25.01.2022 In a year when so much was taken from them, our amazing NBCS Year 12 students have begun a new annual tradition of looking beyond themselves, to give back to the community. In this inaugural year of the Year 12 Legacy Project, our students have partnered with Food Bank to collect items for those in need in our community. It is our hope that this sense of justice and compassion will continue with them, as they go out into the world to make a difference. @foodbanknswact #fooddrive #COVID-19 #2020 #compassion #gratitide #respect #courage

24.01.2022 We are thrilled to announce that one of our talented Primary students, Grace Charlesworth, has had her illustration selected for J.K. Rowling's recently released online book The Ickabog. @hachettekids @TheIckabog J.K. Rowling invited budding young artists, between the ages of 7 to 12 years, to illustrate the book. With over 18,000 submissions received from across the world, Grace was one of the only 34 illustrators chosen. You can view her beautifully imagined illustration he...re: www.theickabog.com Grace's journey to submitting her artwork demonstrates how our students are well-known, well-loved and well-taught. Our dedicated Teachers Aide, Mrs Yvette Anderson, knew how much Grace loves drawing and is a gifted artist. Her encouragement gave Grace the confidence to enter the competition and as a thank you to Mrs Anderson, Grace gave her a copy of The Ickabog. Grace is an inspiring ambassador for our school and embodies our vision of Love Learning. #TheIckabog #nbcs #lovelearning #wellknown #courage #gratitude

21.01.2022 Today we celebrate 'World Teachers' Day'. We are grateful for our NBCS teachers who demonstrate care, integrity, wisdom, patience, justice and resilience. This year, in particular, we have seen these traits come to the fore. Teachers are vital to help create a bright future for our young people. They inspire, motivate and develop new ways for students to learn. They build the capacity of our students to positively impact our world. Thank you teachers! We recognise your hard work, love and sacrifice as you serve our families, our community and God. #nbcs #lovelearning #gratitude #Respect #WorldTeachersDay2020 #teachersday #thankteachers #gelato #BrightFuture

21.01.2022 "Respect is a two-way street. As staff, we aim to show respect to garner it. We are fortunate to be part of the NBCS community, and each of us aims to make it a place that provides all within it the dignity and respect that they deserve as people made in the image of God." Read Principal Tim Watson's latest blog on our value Respect. https://www.nbcs.nsw.edu.au/respect/ #nbcs #lovelearning #respect

20.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to all the NBCS Dads, Granddads, and Uncles - both parents and staff! As a school community we want you to know that we value your partnership in helping all our children reach their greatest potential.

19.01.2022 "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them. We will remember them." Today, on Remembrance Day, we remember an experience that we should never forget. We acknowledge the Armistice that ended World War 1, and remember the members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty. We are forever grateful. #WeRememberThem #remembranceday #lestweforget #nbcs #LoveLearning #Respect #gratitude #courage

18.01.2022 We are delighted to partner with Anglicare Sydney’s 2020 Toys ‘n’ Tucker appeal this year. This is a practical way we can share the joy of Christmas and demonstrate God’s love, providing food and gifts to those who would otherwise go without. Our whole school community are invited to collect and donate new (unwrapped) toys and non-perishable food, to be sorted and packed by Anglicare volunteers into Christmas hampers. This is a tremendous initiative from our NBCS Secondary Service Prefects. Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for many families, especially this year. Toys ‘n’ Tucker provides a way for our school community to let them know they are not forgotten. #nbcs #lovelearning #compassion #gratitude #christianityinaction #toysntucker2020

16.01.2022 We all want to be heard. We all want to be valued. We all want to be seen. In short - we all want to be respected. Often we feel like we are not getting the respect we deserve. How do we get this respect? Mr Whitington, Senior Chaplain at NBCS, shares about Respect in his latest Chapel video, watch it here: https://www.nbcs.nsw.edu.au/respect-part-1/ #nbcs #lovelearning #christianityinaction #nbcsvalues

16.01.2022 As we farewell our Year 12 2020 cohort today, we are grateful for their contribution to our community and in particular, their strength and spirit in a year of uncertainty. Our Board Chair, Professor Emerita Rosemary Johnston AM, summed it up fittingly in a letter to our Year 12 students: What a momentous year and how proud we are of you all! ... It is sad because it’s the end of a chapter (your school days) but also very exciting, because it is the beginning of new chapters (your post-school adventures). We are very proud of how you have traversed such a difficult year with such maturity. Well done! We as a Board are also proud of how well your school and your teachers have worked with you through this challenging time. I have faced many examinations in my life, and always carried in my heart a simple verse of affirmation: ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ (Philippians 4:13). #nbcs #lovelearning #courage #gratitude #classof2020

14.01.2022 One half of our Mission is Christianity in Action. One of the ways in which we explore this with our students is at fortnightly Chapel. Chapel Reflection gives our students the opportunity to reflect on what they have been learning in Chapel. It opens up an honest dialogue with their teacher, as they are encouraged to ask questions, agree and disagree. It is a safe place to think about the big questions of life and faith, and explore and how they see themselves and their place in the world. #nbcs #ChristianityInAction #LoveLearning #chapelreflection

11.01.2022 Our Year 7 students have had a wonderful time on camp! They have enjoyed beautiful Spring weather, with enough sunshine to put smiles on faces during the day, and just enough cold to keep them wrapped up in their tents at night. There have been plenty of opportunities to challenge themselves, from scaling enormous rocks to reach the ridgeline, to crawling through muddy wombat holes. There has been much singing and laughter too, as they embrace the natural beauty of the Colo ...Valley. With Covid-19 putting many things on hold this year, it is heartening to see our students enjoying both the peace and adventure of the great outdoors. We are so proud of the way they have embraced this opportunity. #nbcs #lovelearning #year7camp #courage #gratitude

11.01.2022 Yesterday was a wonderful celebration of the world of literature, as our community participated in the 2020 'Curious Creatures, Wild Minds' Book Week. Our teachers and Primary students enjoyed parading as their favourite characters from well-loved books, sharing how these characters and their stories, inspire us. Inspiration was also found in our visiting author Sue Whiting, who shared her writing journey and the importance of storytelling in our world. As we instil a love o...f reading in our students, we adhere to Tim Winton's view: "Readers are leaders. Readers are friends. Readers are dreamers. Readers are weirdos. Readers are rebels and I say thank goodness for readers. For where there are readers there's hope." #nbcs #lovelearning #bookweek2020 #gratitude See more

09.01.2022 Last night was Opening Night of the NBCS Musical, Matilda! This was the first of many performances this week, and despite a smaller audience with COVID restrictions, it was no less spectacular than previous years. ‘I believe the NBCS cast carries the same mantle of energy belief and passion that I experienced in West End, London and that our show has that special unique something’ ~ Isaac Owen (Director) Every member of the team, from the directors, cast, musicians, choreographers, props, stage crew, costume, technicians, audio, lighting, photography and video have come together, using their creative talents, to create an outstanding production. We congratulate and thank the whole team for their hard work and passion. #nbcsmusical #lovelearning #gratitude #courage

09.01.2022 Having a common language around friendships is vital to ensure understanding and to facilitate conflict resolution. Together we can help build a life-long foundation for healthy friendships. 09.01.2022 As wellbeing is such an important pillar of the NBCS community, R U OK?Day is always a great reminder to encourage conversations around mental health and wellbeing. As we all know, 2020 has been a particularly challenging year and it is more important than ever to check in with our loved ones, neighbours and colleagues and ask, 'are you ok?'. Taking the time to listen and encourage action can make the world of difference to someone. As a community it is a great privilege to look out for one another and support each other through the hard times and together, celebrate the joys. #ruokday #lovelearning #wellbeing #nbcs
