Thank you to all who came along this morning to celebrate our parkrun turning 3 A BIG congratulations to Janice WHITTLE who is a visua...lly impaired athlete and completed the run (with her guide Robert) in 49:47. That's impressive This week 45 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 15 were first timers and 4 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 5 different clubs took part. 24.01.2022 On Saturday I attended the official opening of Caboolture Cricket Development Centre in Morayfield. It was good to see all levels of government, including the M...oreton Bay Regional Council and State Government join with the Federal Government to contribute to this project - along with Cricket Australia and the Caboolture Sports Club. Local cricketers will have access to a brand new indoor 5-pitch training centre which will become a beacon for cricketers right across the region. The nearest similar facility is about 50km away. And the nets are retractable too, which means groups can use the space, like for bocce, indoor bowls, dance classes and so on. Any investment that encourages participation in sport in our local community is an investment that is worth making.

13.01.2022 FIRST TIMERS TO PARKRUN - WHAT TO EXPECT / DO 1A. PRINT OUT & BRING YOUR ATHLETE BARCODE. You must have this with you at all times as it has your ICE details on... it (should there be an emergency) 1B. Arrive with plenty of time to find a car park, go to the toilet, find your friends, ask questions. Maintain social distancing at all times 2. Scan the QR code on display (or pre-register with the link provided via computer at home) 3. Listen to the First Timers & General briefing - this will be at around 6.55am 4. Run / walk the parkrun. The start line at parkrun is self-seeded, with the faster runners towards the front and walkers towards the rear. The Tail Walker (volunteer role) is always the final participant. It's their job to be the final person across the line so we know when everyone has finished 5. When you cross the finish line you will be given a finish token (pictured below). This token indicates your finishing position, which corresponds to the time & position on the stopwatch. You must take this token and your athlete barcode to the table to be scanned. 6. Hold your athlete barcode and the finish token out in front of you and the volunteer will scan them. Then place the finish token in the container provided. DO NOT TAKE IT HOME 7. If you don't have your printed athlete barcode, you must still return the finish token to the volunteers at the table. 8. Please be aware that NO DOGS are allowed on this course or anywhere within the Heritage Park 9. Maintain social distancing whilst you wait for your friends/family to finish

12.01.2022 Today I had the pleasure of visiting the King Street Players Theatre group KSP Theatre Inc was established in 1983 and was known as King Street Players, ...due to their proximity to King Street, Caboolture. In 1994 KSP moved to its current premises on Old Bay Road, Burpengary and has grown in leaps and bounds ever since. KSP has produced hundreds of shows including Musical Theatre Restaurants, Variety Shows & Cabarets, Comedies, Dramas, Farces, Pantomimes, Christmas Carols and their annual Drama Festival. KSP have also performed as Roving Entertainment at local events. Although being restricted lately with productions due to COVID, KSP Theatre Inc usually produce 4 to 5 shows each year as well as their annual Drama Festival! Im looking forward to getting back down there and seeing a performance soon!

11.01.2022 CENTRE INNOVATION AWARD Congratulations to Deception Bay Little Athletics who are the winners of this inaugural award. Deception Bay Centre continues to str...ive to discover and implement new ways for recording results for its athletes. They have continued to expand the use of technology on the arena, utilising 13 tablets on the field for results, 3 laptops for track results and WIFI across their entire arena. This has assisted them to reduce the number of parent helpers required, significantly reduce the time between events being completed and families being able to see results, ability to view results online at the completion of each event in real time and has resulted in the Centre being virtually paperless on a competition night. Deception Bay has also begun a trial process of new athlete registration bibs, incorporating bar codes. This has sped up the manual process of track recording and data entry dramatically, while ensuring accuracy and eliminating mistakes that can often come with manual data entry. Through the introduction of these technologies, they have reduced the amount of time that families are at the Centre on competition nights from 3 hours to under 2 hours for their 400 athletes. Parents have reported how much they love that the Centre has provided the above services and measures so athletes can get their results and seasons bests on the spot.
