25.01.2022 To our creative network and beyond! Three residencies are available across the state with the opportunity to immerse and respond to local collections... and one of the places is the North Midlands with the artist residing in Carnamah! It's a 20k package with the residency running September to November this year. Follow the link for all the details... https://bit.ly/34w0LZs. The residencies are being run by ART ON THE MOVE as part of the WA State Government’s Regional Exhibi...tion Touring Boost, and in the North Midlands region supported by the Carnamah Historical Society & Museum + North Midlands Project teams. We're super excited about this and feel very privileged to be part of this wonderful program celebrating history and heritage through the arts. Please share far and wide with your networks :) Museum of the Goldfields - Museum of the Great Southern Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries

11.01.2022 In 2019 we facilitated a group exhibition on the Scottish and indigenous members of the Macpherson family who left their mark on multiple locations in the North Midlands and across the Mid West region. The exhibition was timed to coincide with the historic Macpherson Homestead turning 150; and was one of a series of exhibitions held across WA under the overarching theme of The Alternative Archive. Last week a survey exhibition with selected works from each exhibition across t...he state was launched at John Curtin Gallery in Perth. Among the pieces selected was the enormous work created by Gabrielle Butler of Perenjori. This impressively large oil and acyclic work spans eight canvases and was sized to fill the largest exhibition wall at The Bank Gallery in Carnamah. It was a special moment to check Gabby's wonderful artwork within such an impressive venue and exhibition. The survey exhibition for The Alternative Archive is showing at John Curtin Gallery until 30th of July. John Curtin Gallery can be easily found using Google Maps and is open Monday to Friday 11am-5pm and on Sunday 12-4pm. You can also check out the exhibition through its catalogue, which can be found on the coffee table at The Exchange in Carnamah. Our 'A Pastoralist Family' exhibition for The Alternative Archive in 2019 is fully available on our website at www.northmidlands.org.au/collection/alternative-archive
