25.01.2022 Day 5 Orthoptic Awareness Week 2018! Pure orthoptics involves management of patients with an eye turn, double vision and amblyopia (lazy eye). However, over the years our skills have expanded into screening and detecting ophthalmic conditions. Nevertheless, we highly promote eye patching as a therapy for children with amblyopia to help strengthen their weaker eye in terms of vision. Patching is encouraged at a young age, preferably before the age of 10 years old as the resu...lts are more robust. Dr Michael Jones is our paediatric ophthalmologist at North Shore Eye Centre.
