25.01.2022 On January 18 and 19 our team completed a virtual running event to raise funds for bush fire relief. In each of our home towns we completed a 5 km run or walk as part of fund raising for Red Cross fire relief! I was so proud of them as it was ironically and beautifully pouring in most locations. It was so motivating and inspiring to take part and encourage each other along! We had families involved, two pregnant walkers and lots of us get completely saturated! Stay tuned for more monthly team challenges, we would love our clients to get on board as well!
22.01.2022 Last week our amazing AEP Emma Els and her client Neil completed the Ride The Range bike ride. A whopping 112kms and 1500m climbing! Well done guys! Inspiring stuff! What is everyone working towards?
22.01.2022 Exercise of the Month! Heel toe walk This is a great exercise for your dynamic balance. As we age our balance slowly declines unless we continue to challange it. This exercise has lots of progressions, so if you ever find that its becoming too easy, just ask one of our EPs for a progression.
20.01.2022 Yes!!!! Keep moving everyone!!
20.01.2022 EDIT: Hectic times at the moment. Try to keep yourself in check and focus on one day at a time. Ensure you nourish yourself through movement, food and sleep. Maintaining, managing and improving our physical and mental health right now is key. Its business as usual from all our clinics tomorrow UNTIL 12PM when gyms will be closed. The health of our community is our top priority and we will follow all government recommendations and communicate directly with our clients as we ...make any modifications to our servicing. Where appropriate and possible we have outdoor and home visits available with Telehealth ready to roll out this week to ensure we can continue our duty of care to our clients in the safest way possible as we need to. Please communicate with your exercise physiologist if you have any questions or concerns. We will keep you up to date via email and phone. Stay well our dear NAH family. See more

18.01.2022 Just a little mid week reminder to keep slaying this week! Its so easy to start the week off healthy but health comes down to consistent daily habits, so who it bringing their healthiest self consistently?
18.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
18.01.2022 About a third of the burden experienced by thepopulation could be prevented by reducing the exposure to modifiable risk factors. These risk factors include but are not limited to tobacco use, high body mass, alcohol use, physical inactivity and high blood pressure. Dont know where to start at the moment in these uncertain times? Talk to one of our AEPs to get you started! We are running Telehealth sessions so stay in the comfort of your own home and look after your health under our guidence. Call 0412740322 for more information.
17.01.2022 Do you know what an Accredited Exercise Physiologist does? If you are seeing this and are a long time follower chances are you do but for those new comers we thought we would take a minute to explain! Accredited Exercise Physiologists are university-qualified allied health professionals. We specialise in designing and prescribing safe and effective exercise interventions for people with chronic medical conditions, injuries or disabilities. Services delivered by an AEP are al...so claimable under government funding and schemes such as Medicare and attract private health rebates. Whether youre living with a chronic condition, illness, injury or just want advice, programming or an assessment to start and/or continue to exercise right for your specific needs, we can help!
17.01.2022 According to self-reportingin the 2014-15 National Health Survey, 1 in every 2 Australians (50%) have at least one prominent (i.e. arthritis, asthma, back pain, cancer, cardiovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes or mental health conditions) chronic condition. Did you know that we can help you with these chronic conditions? Not only that but if you are under GP care you may qualify for a chronic disease management plan. Call our team on 0412 740 322 for more information.
16.01.2022 People who are physically active are happier and more satisfied with their lives. They have a stronger sense of purpose, feel more gratitude, are more connected to their communities, and are less likely to be lonely or anxious. What exercise is everyone doing this long weekend?
16.01.2022 Exercise of the Month! Dead Bug Exercise The dead bug exercise is an effective way to strengthen and stabilise your core, abdominals and back muscles. This improves your posture and helps relieve and prevent low back pain. It can also help to improve your balance and coordination. Ask one of our EPs if this may be appropriate for your program.
15.01.2022 Aint that the truth. It is exciting to see all the emerging research supporting exercise for disease intervention. And doesnt it just make the above ring true! #exerciseismedicine

13.01.2022 This week is National Stroke week. Our owner & AEP, Liz Dawson, knows a thing or two about Strokes falling victim at work in 2015 at the age of 33. The message to communities from the Stroke Foundation this stroke week is clear. Know the signs and act quickly. In Lizs case it wasnt picked up at emergency and she was sent home, unable to walk, feel or function on her left side. It wasnt until the next day that it was picked up. Liz knew the signs but took the emergency doc...tors word for it. Liz has been so lucky to make a full recovery and back into life as an AEP. Exercise was key in my recovery, Liz got back into exericse immediately. Within 2 weeks hitting her goal of 10k steps a day! 10.01.2022 We are here to help you with your exercise needs during this time.
10.01.2022 Check out our Penrith AEP @move2thrive_exphys (Jeremy) activating those glutes! These exercises help recruit one of our all important Glute muscles, the Glute medius, this muscle is one of the muscles responsible for lumbo-pelvic stability meaning that it stabilises through the hips which has a chain reaction in stabilising through our lower back. Add this one into your program!!
10.01.2022 Exercise of the Month! Single arm barbell press. Often called the landmine press, this exercise is great for developing overhead lifting strength as well as scapular stability. If you are limited by pain or strength from lifting weight directly above your head, this can be used as a regression as you can manipulate the angle of the bar to change how high your shoulder lifts the load. If you stand closer to the bar, your shoulder will push the weight more overhead, whereas if you are far away from the bar it will push more in front of your body rather than above. Ask one of our EPs if this may be appropriate for your program, particularly if you experience difficulties with overhead lifting.
10.01.2022 We have now launched Telehealth services!! While all clinics are running home visits we know that offering services like Telehealth will allow us to better check in with those high risk patients!! This is our commitment to our clients health! We firmly believe that everyone needs to keep moving for our physical health, mental health and to eliminate extra pressure on the health systems and this will enable us to be there every step of the way. Speak to your practitioner today or call 0412 740 322 to get set up. We have more information coming out to you in the coming days.

10.01.2022 Welcome to our newest team member Hannah!! Hannah is starting with us next week from our Wagga site!! 07.01.2022 Its a good morning to head to the gym!
04.01.2022 Exercise of the month!! Here is Morayfield Practice manager Emma Els doing the Lateral shoulder raise. This is an oldie but a goodie! But do you know why it is so good and should be included in your workouts?? This is a great exercise for both rehab and prehab of the shoulder. When we lift our arm out to the side we get a co-contraction of all the muscles that make up the rotator cuff helping to build strong stable shoulders. Thanks Emma!!
04.01.2022 Our Penrith team have moved!! We are now operating out of the fabulous @fit4allgym Monday through Thursday! Our Penrith team have been working so hard to support our clients through this time and are excited to be offering sessions from this great space! 03.01.2022 Check out our CanBeatIt Cancer program guys in our Hunter clinics doing our monthly AMRAP challenge. These guys are smashing it and so inspiring! Have you given it a go? 20 squats 10 burpees ... 10 push ups 40 dB punches. As many rounds as possible in 10 mins. Dont forget to help us raise some funds for cancer research while we are sweating it out here! Link in bio. We run our CanBeatIt cancer management program from our Hunter site and are taking expressions of interest across all sites. Call 0412740322 to register today. The burpee is a bit of a killer, often used in HIIt sessions but its also a great functional exercise. You dont have to smash it out and use it in a high intensity fashion, so try slowing it down, thinking about posture and getting up off the ground while looking after your body. See these pics above for some modifications.
03.01.2022 From Monday we are back servicing from most of our locations! To help make this a smooth transition please see our Covid Safe Plan. We cannot wait to be back in the gym with you all. Any questions or queries call 0412740322 during business hours. **Please be directed by your AEP on your sessions as some will still remain as Telehealth.
02.01.2022 This week is sleep awareness week! How well do you sleep? Sometimes just changing a few things can help improve your sleep. For example, exercising but not right before bed. This month in place of an exercise challenge we are challenging our NAH family to keep a sleep diary. We have shared the diary with our Facebook group so head over to our Facebook page and join our group to jump on board this month.
02.01.2022 A group for our beloved NAH community! Come here for weekly exercise challenges, live workouts and more!!!
02.01.2022 Our gyms are on top of it!
01.01.2022 60% of Australian adults are suffering from lack of sleep, according to a 2019 report by the Sleep Health Foundation. I guess this is not surprising with the state of the world and the pace at which we operate. Whilst some aspects of our lifestyle undoubtedly contribute to our drowsy state, others like the human phenomenon of aging are completely out of our control. Many people do not realize that as we age and our bodies deteriorate, so does our sleep. So perhaps as we blow out the growing number of candles each year, we should gradually lower expectations of our sleep. Head over to our latest blog post for our tips on improving your sleep! Guess what - exercise is one of them . https://northsidealliedhealth.com.au/whats-really-keeping-/
