20.01.2022 This episode is all about how you can guide your children through a separation. I haven’t done this but I’ve been a child living through one. There was pain of ...course, nobody comes out completely unscathed but what I will always be grateful for is how child focussed my parents were before it was even a term in the 90’s. They loved us more than whatever hurt they felt towards each other and I always felt that even from a young age. When the dust settled they were able to be friends and still are, we can all hang out with their new partners and are still very much a family and for that I am eternally grateful. I know it’s not always possible to achieve this, some ex’s are completely impossible to have a positive relationship with and in this episode we spoke to Lawyer and Author of Surviving Your Split Lucy Mannering about how to be the sane parent in a separation and the good ol grey rock method for dealing with an unreasonable ex. We also spoke to Clinical Psychologist Belinda Jones about how to guide your children through the process. As well as James, a father who shared his positive and child focussed separation story with us. I loved hearing James’ refreshing perspective from a bloke about how important it is to look after your ex as by looking after her, you are putting your children first. Such an important episode in the series and I will reiterate what I said on this episode to anyone who is going through this or gone through this you didn’t need to stay together for the children in fact it’s the opposite. You are living separately for the children. Because having two happy, functioning loving homes is so much better than one miserable one. I’ve lived through both and can tell you that you haven’t ruined your children’s lives, you’ve shown them there is a healthier, more positive way to live Subscribe in Apple Podcasts, Spotify or however you listen to your pods or link in bio. Fabulous cohost Cassandra Thorburn and genius Exec Producer was Eliza Ratliffe xx https://m.facebook.com/BelindaJones.ClinicalPsychologist/
