Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Every year, skin cancer is around 80% of all newly diagnosed cancers. However, more than 95% of cases are caused by unprotected exposure to UV radiation from the sun, meaning it is a nearly entirely preventable cancer. https://www.cancer.org.au//national-skin-cancer-action-week

14.01.2022 In an Australian medical first, an Endoscopic Spine Surgery (ESS) procedure was performed at #NorwestPrivate. ESS is used to treat a variety of spinal disorders and conditions including disc herniation, spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease requiring spinal stabilisation. ESS has evolved since the 1990s with the latest approaches, techniques and technology benefitting patients across Europe, Asia and the U.S. Friday’s case was the first in Australia as part of the En...doscopic Spine Service provided by Norwest Private Hospital, Healthscope. Dr Brian Hsu is the first surgeon in Australia to use Joimax, the only spine dedicated endoscopic company that utilises spine specific consoles and instruments. #NorwestPrivate have embraced this technology in establishing the endoscopic technique as a standard of patient care. Dr Hsu, Adult & Paediatric Spine Surgeon says ESS assists in faster recovery and a shorter stay in hospital after surgery for patients www.nswspinespecialists.com.au See more

11.01.2022 Saffron Day is observed on 22 Oct in memory of Deyaan, to raise awareness for organ and tissue donation. Deyaan Udani was a bright seven year old boy with an infectious smile, who tragically passed away in 2016. His parents decided to donate his organs, a precious gift that gave four people another chance at a full and healthy life. Saffron symbolises courage and strength, qualities seen in little Deyaan. Orange was also Deyaan’s favourite colour. The message is that a pinch of Saffron goes a long way, as does the generous gift of organ donation. To learn more about Deyaan’s story, visit saffronday.org #doitfordeyann
