25.01.2022 Sporting round tomorrow has been cancelled due to low numbers.

23.01.2022 From everyone here at WESA we send our thoughts to the family and friends of Josh Rycken who sadly passed away recently. He was a fierce combatant on the field and an all round great bloke off it! His contributions to NEWS and the Powerchair Sports community will not be forgotten.

22.01.2022 With the Christmas break fast approaching it’s time to announce the fixtures for the second part of the season! For more info contact Jack O’Keeffe on 0433 143 323 or message us here on Facebook.

16.01.2022 COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT WESA has decided that effective immediately we are suspending the Power League, junior sessions, events and programs until further notice as the COVID-19 situation develops. We sincerely apologise for the disruption to our final round of the season as well as to our casino night fundraiser event. However, the health and wellbeing of our community is our top priority. ... In regards to our casino night we understand it’s difficult to commit in these uncertain times, but we will need the support of our community at this major annual event once we have a new date set. Thanks.

16.01.2022 2020/2021 WESA POWER LEAGUE ROUND 3 SUMMARY Round 3 of the season got underway on Saturday at Rocky Bay, between Mosman Magic and Rotary Wheelers. There was nearly a full quota of players with Bailey making his official debut for the Wheelers. Joshua L was absent for the Magic. Balloon Soccer very much saw a familiar trend with Jack and Scott teaming up for most of the Magic’s scoring. Within the first minute of the match, Jack was able to feed the ball in behind the Wheelers... defence to a fast moving Scott to get the team’s first. The next two goals were shared between this dynamic pair. A well executed intercept by Santiago from Jack’s clearance saw him claim his first in Balloon Soccer. Lastly an own goal off of Tom’s chair that floated across the line gives the final score for this contest. Final score - Mosman Magic 4-1 Rotary Wheelers Goals - Scott (2), Jack, Santiago, Tom (OG) Assists - Jack Two games of Powerchair Hockey followed. Eight minutes elapsed into the first half of game one, when Jack then shot the length of the field from his own goal area to sneak it in on the front of Tom’s chair. Jack and Deema combined for a further three goals, with the support of Scott and Logan in attack and defence. The Wheelers as a consolation saw Josh’s accurate and powerful shot go in behind Jack. Final score - Mosman Magic 4-1 Rotary Wheelers Goals - Jack (2), Deema (2), Josh W An absolute classic occurred following the dominant Magic display. In similar fashion to the previous two rounds the Wheelers were to bounce back, albeit after Jack’s early goal. Jakob executed some great blocking to line up Josh for their team’s first. Jack then got caught too far up the field in the Magic’s next attack, a stray pass being cut off by Josh who quickly scored. Jakob then came into his own running the ball down the sideline to flick the ball across Jack to score on the back of his chair, giving the Wheelers a 4-1 lead! In response to this Jack adopted an all or nothing approach piling on three goals in a row to tie the score. The game then went goal for goal with Josh and Scott adding to their tallies. In the last minute Tom unfortunately hit his own goals resulting in a penalty shot being awarded to the Magic. Scott rolled up to see if he could secure a win in this enthralling contest. Sideline commentator Dylan suggested to Jakob that he rush the penalty taker, and he did exactly that. Scott however was able to side step this risky attempt but by the time a shot was taken, Jakob deflected it wide, the chance going begging. The points were shared between the teams, final score being 5-5! Final score - Mosman Magic 5-5 Rotary Wheelers Goals - Jack (4), Josh W (3), Jakob, Scott NEXT ROUND (4): Saturday 28th November @ 11am See details below!

12.01.2022 2020/2021 WESA POWER LEAGUE ROUND 2 SUMMARY Round 2 of the season got underway on Saturday at Rocky Bay, between Mosman Magic and Rotary Wheelers. The Magic were bolstered with the return of Deema Audeh, and the Wheelers debutant in Santiago Martinez joined their ranks. Joshua Wells missed this round following the birth of his second child. Taking this into account, the Magic were able to claim a clean sweep of all the games. First up was Balloon Soccer. With Deema opting to ...wait until Powerchair Hockey to jump into things and Santiago observing to get a feel for the game, it became a 3 on 3 contest. This means it was a high scoring affair! Mosman Magic employed a very aggressive counter attacking style which worked for most of the game. Scott got on the scoreboard twice, one an assist from Jack, the other during a break forward. Joshua Lockyer was able to claim his first goal for the Wheelers after the ball bounced through into the corner of the goals. Scott and Logan also teamed up for the Magic’s fourth. Their risky style did however come back to bite them with a goal by Wheelers Vice Captain Tom scored before half time. Final score - Mosman Magic 4-2 Rotary Wheelers Goals - Scott (2), Jack, Josh L, Logan, Tom Assists - Jack, Jakob, Scott It was decided that instead of a second game of Balloon Soccer, two games of Powerchair Hockey would be played. Without Josh Wells, the Wheelers struggled to get the ball moving forward, against the stick power of the Magic. Deema was able to score twice in each game. Jack and Scott claimed one each per game too. As a consolation to the Wheelers, Santiago was able to score off a penalty shot on no other than Jack himself. Final score - Mosman Magic 4-1 Rotary Wheelers Goals - Deema (2), Jack, Santiago, Scott Final score - Mosman Magic 4-0 Rotary Wheelers Goals - Deema (2), Jack, Scott NEXT ROUND (3): Saturday 21st November @ 11am See details below!

10.01.2022 2020/2021 WESA POWER LEAGUE ROUND 12 SUMMARY The 2020/2021 Power League season came to a close today at Rocky Bay, with the Rotary Wheelers and Mosman Magic battling it out one last time. A clean sweep of the final games and a recent run of good form unfortunately wasn’t enough for the Wheelers to claim the premiership. Most goals (60) and assists (11) goes to Jack O’Keeffe. POWERCHAIR HOCKEY:... As was the case for most of the season, Powerchair Hockey featured periods of no scoring followed by bouts of scoring. A free kick in the Magic defensive half being quickly taken by Jack led to the Wheelers first. His second came as a result of the Magic goalie getting caught up the field in an attempt to block. In response Josh Wells got the team back in the game after a great team block allowed him a straight run down the sideline to load up a long ranged shot behind the Wheelers goalie. Jack claimed his third and fourth soon after due to a couple of quick counters from opposition turnovers. Final score - Rotary Wheelers 4-1 Mosman Magic Goals - Jack (4), Josh W The goals were shared in the second game, including a one on one with the goalie, Santiago from the Wheelers squeezing in his shot under their chair. A save soon after which then rolled into play was tapped in by Jack. An end to end dribble in the second half by Scott resulted in a deflected shot to be tapped in this time by Josh Wells. Final score - Rotary Wheelers 2-1 Mosman Magic Goals - Jack, Josh W, Santiago BALLOON SOCCER: Four goals and a clean sheet for the Wheelers capped off their season. Most noteworthy moments include a Jack chip bouncing off the crossbar multiple times to land in Santiago’s path, a powerful strike between two defenders by Jack, and a timely assist by Santiago to give Tom a tap in. Final score - Rotary Wheelers 4-0 Mosman Magic Goals - Jack (2), Santiago, Tom Assists - Santiago
