23.01.2022 A huge thank you to everyone who donated to Norwest Sunrise Rotary Club’s Tree of Joy at Norwest Marketown this year. It was one of the biggest year’s yet. All items are being delivered to the Salvation Army. There was food, a lot of gift cards and a huge collection of wonderful toys. Thank you for your generosity

23.01.2022 Today was a huge day as we acknowledged the amazing service of some of incredibly community-focused members and two founding members of Hills Rotaract Club, Inc. Our prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship awards were presented to Jeremy Carter Alex Hezari Cameron Cortazzo and Karenza de Leon for their inspiring leadership and community work. There were also Paul Harris Fellow recognition awards for Martin Collins and Robert Bredin for their generous contributions to The Rotary Foundation to enable it to support so many projects both here and overseas. #RotaryOpensOpportunities #norwestrotary #serviceaboveself

21.01.2022 Its the annual Hills Winter Sleepout tomorrow. We dont have to do a bbq but there will be a bbq and the Hills Daily Grind coffee van outside Alive 90.5 FM at Balcombe Heights Estate Baulkham Hills from 7pm for drive through. There is still time to join the Norwest Sunrise Rotary team or to donate. Money raised at last years event has helped 71 adults and 89 children through the Hills Homeless Prevention Initiative. 17.01.2022 This morning was all about us!! The zoom meeting started with questions like Where in the world would you like to live for a year Surprisingly the most answers were Europe. We also heard about the wonderful work Azita has been doing with the homeless in Sydney and the help she received from our amazing Rotarac’s. You can be part of us too, please join us every Thursday from 7:30am by zoom meeting or face to face.

17.01.2022 Sensational to see these photos from the Rotary Club of Grigota in Bolivia. Norwest Sunrise Rotary Club was one of 20 international clubs that were part of the Covid19 project, to help protect health personnel in Santa Cruz and its country towns. A huge thank you to Daisy Montaro for organising it.

11.01.2022 On a rainy day like this nothing was more comfy to gather by Zoom. Our guest speaker this morning was Samantha Meisner-Lemon from The Shepherd Centre which has been working with hearing impaired children for 50 years. The Shepherd Centre is also keen for seniors to priorities their own hearing health, advances including the amazing story surrounding Cochlear Implants, a great Aussie invention. This morning we had the pleasure to have Mario Rodrigues, a board director of Positive Vibes Foundation (PVF) talking about the work, programs and workshops they provide to our community. 09.01.2022 We are so happy that as a club we have been able to buy a container and send beds, mattresses, hospital equipment and linen to a hospital in a remote region of the Solomon Islands. Members of The wonderful Solomon Island community gathered by Peter Terry are packing it now. A big thank you to Russ Evans and Gary West for making this project happen and to Keith Roffey at the HEERA warehouse.

And the morning couldn’t have started in a better way then having with us the most adorable young member of our club, our gorgeous Mason!! Also we had Madeleine from Hills Rotarac to talk about their Share the Dignity project. We also awarded one of our most valued volunteers Krissie with the three sapphire Paul Harris Fellow pin!!! ... She been with us since she was a teenager in Rotarac. Our guest speaker was GP Dr Juanita Rodrigues talking about her perspective on mental health during COVID. Juanita works with HeadSpace and is a member of Castle Hill Rotary Club. We also presented a cheque to Keith Roffey from Heera, Keith kindly let us use its premises for our monthly face to face meetings. And last but not least, we sang Happy Birthday to our wonderful Cherelyn. 06.01.2022 Castle Hill Rotary Club is raising funds to assist the people of Beirut, Lebanon who have been devastated by the massive explosion that recently occurred. Leaving up to 300,000 homeless and many lives lost, your donation no matter how big or small will be greatly appreciated with the assurance that 100% of all funds raised will directly go to the people of Beirut. Distributed by the Rotary District in Beirut who are at the coal face and dealing with this horrendous tragedy. Thank you in anticipation of your support. 06.01.2022 And its full!!! 70 beds, mattresses, a fridge, hospital linen, medical equipment and Every spare nook and cranny utilised including walkers and bedpans. Our packed container leaves next week for the Solomon Islands and Kiluufi Hospital in Malaita Province. The Rotary Club of Honiara will be accepting the container when it arrives next month. A wonderful team effort.

The Hills Winter Sleep Out is a unique event that aims to raise awareness of homelessness and factors such as Domestic Violence, Financial Hardship or Mental Illness that can lead to homelessness in The Hills. 02.01.2022 A huge thank you to Cindy Sease from Montana, USA who was guest speaker at our virtual meeting this morning. We were waking up to Thursday while Cindy was still in Wednesday and working! It was also great to see our exchange student Georgia online from Japan. That is one plus of our new norm. -- using online platforms although we all miss face-to-face meeting.
