Mental welfare, burnout and work-life balance are important issues for aspiring surgeons throughout their careers. This years topic is Surgery; A Life Commitment? We welcome you to discuss the sustainability of the current system, with consideration of its impact on the lives of trainees, as well as the ongoing the need for high quality surgical care. The winning essay, judged by a panel of academic surgeons across ANZ, will win a premium suturing kit kindly donated by RACS NSW, and be considered for journal publication. Prof Al Muderis is a world-renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon and will be speaking about his journey in surgery, from medical school in Iraq to arriving as a refugee in Australia to becoming a pioneer in Osseointegration.
