21.01.2022 C H R I S T M A S F O O D Helpful tips for Christmas Day Avoid putting on extra kilos this Christmas with a few tips from Nourish & Healing!!... Christmas is an exciting time of year and especially with the crazy year we've had due to COVID19, the opportunity to spend time with our loved ones is allowed!! Just be aware of your Christmas appetite! Here are some self control tips to prevent #foodoverload *First of all don't skip the most important meal of the day....breakfast! Start your day as normal with a healthy breakfast to kick start the days metabolism. *At lunch or dinner fill up first on the proteins! They keep you fuller for longer so your not looking for any extras. Eat more of the Christmas turkey or ham. *After your first plate, wait 20minutes! It takes time for your brain to tell you its actually full. Going back for seconds always occurs in our family, but give it some time. You may find your already satisfied with your first dish and save room for the sweets! * Portion control - think about where this food is going? If you havent had the chance to do any exercise around your christmas day, it wont be burnt off, it will sit in the body. This makes me feel sluggish. Think about laying in bed christmas night and how sick your tummy will feel if you've overloaded! Been there before!! * Watch your alcohol intake! If you are drinking more then normal, have less carbs through-out the day. Dont forget alcohol is liver damaging, so go easy on the plonk! (1 - 2 glassses is enough to celebrate) *Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. We tend to forget about water as we are so busy, so keep a bottle by your side for the day. And most of all, have a fabulous Christmas break and enjoy every moment with precious loved ones! Chezzy xxx Nourish & Healing

08.01.2022 A HEALTHY BMI ~ Why is it important to health? Our body mass index (BMI) is an indicator of whether we are sitting at a healthy weight or whether we are putting our bodies at a higher risk of disease. There are different ranges which can help determine whether we are at a healthy range, from to low to high- being underweight, normal, overweight to obese. We are all born with different body shapes and have different metabolisms, and whether we tend to carry more then others is... entirely up to the individual. The hard truth is "Our health is our own responsibility" and when we start to notice we might not be at our healthiest, then change is necessary and sometimes immediate. Risks from being at an unhealthy BMI weight on the top scale from 25 to 35 can include: #Cardiovasculardisease - plaque build up which stiffens and clogs up the artery walls - indicators can include shortness of breath, chest pain, heart palpitations & vertigo #HighCholesterol - a diet with too much saturated fats clogs the arteries - no indicators but when it gets serious, there can be a heart attack, stroke, aortic aneurysm. Best option is to have an assessment and test done at your local pharmacy #HighBloodpressure - hypertension due to the heart having to work harder to pump the blood to reach all the cells An Underweight BMI less then 18.5 is classed as underweight: #Malnourishment - this can cause long term health issues including osteoporosis. Indicators can include dizziness, fatigue and muscle weakness #Compromised immune function - more risk to getting sick, for longer and more often. Much harder for the body to fight infections. #RespiratoryDisease - Muscles used for breathing become weakened. Can develop asthma. If we wake up one day and realize we've gone a bit overboard with our choices, and this path, if continued, will have destructive consequences on the rest of your time alive, then its NEVER too late to reverse the damage! Keeping in mind, although it can be a massive struggle to lose the weight than it is to gain it, just by making that start will reduce those risks. Choose Healthy, Be Happy..... Chezzy xx
