23.01.2022 This morning (Sydney time), Rob from SCJJA-NU handed NU founder Andre Pederneiras AU$400 in cash to go towards his social project of teaching jiu-jitsu to the under privileged in Rio. This money was raised from the sale of official Nova Uniao related merchandise at SCJJA and on the official Nova Uniao Australia website. 21.01.2022 On Saturday 25th of May, 2nd degree NU Black Belt Rodney Ellis gave a seminar at the Kickstart Fitness Centre in Townsville. The seminar focused on the de la Riva guard and was enjoyed by all the participants. Rodney also took the opportunity to roll with all the coloured belts, including gym owner Colin Crosby.

03.01.2022 NSW State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship Results: This past weekend Southern Cross Jiu-Jitsu Academy sent 10 competitors to the NSW State BJJ Championships in Newcastle. Highlights of the weekend were: * Head Coach Rodney Ellis returning from 16-months off to win the Black Belt Masters <85kg division * Rhys Dowden came back from getting robbed by the ref in his weight class to win the blue belt masters absolute * Daniel Eishou and Jon Mystakidis closed out BOTH the gi a...nd no-gi adult blue belt <79kg divisions * Daniel then backed it up to claim bronze in a tough adult blue belt absolute divsion * Ryan Buttita claimed silver in the no-gi adult blue <73kg * "Big" Joshua Birks took silver in the over 97kg adult blue belt * Rhys Allen won all 4 of his matches by submission to win the adult white belt <79kg At the end of the presentations, Daniel Eishou was presented with his purple belt from Rodney; recognising a great 6 months of competition where he has owned the blue belt <79kg division in all tournaments hes entered.
