25.01.2022 Our Friends at Affinity Electrical Services posted this on their facebook... How much tidier would your home look with USB ports on the power outlets instead of power adapters.
25.01.2022 Don't know if this product made it to production - but the remote Kiss, great for those in isolation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sfMBc7vVV0
24.01.2022 The things you have to do to get data back. Yep that's a hard drive on a blue freezer block.
23.01.2022 The simulator Broc uses in this report is controlled by a PC, but not an ordinary PC - it's a very high end system, and when it started to have issues early in the Super3 season Novix rebuilt it, but eventually the mainboard died... Novix sourced an equivalent mainboard from overseas and had the Sim up and running and were very happy to see a 2nd generation racer win the Super3 V8 championship and progress into the super2 series, Go Broc!
23.01.2022 Trump has Space force, nice to see Australia investing in Digital Space. https://www.abc.net.au//cyber-security-investment/12404468
22.01.2022 Novix Systems has been a BNI member for 16 years - It is the ONLY referral system that has worked for our business. Google BNI Gold Coast
22.01.2022 Good news for Mobile and 5G competition, and any business that has connected to TPG fibre services - your connection might become a 5G service point for Vodafone and you should get remunerated for it. https://www.itnews.com.au//vodafone-and-tpg-15bn-merger-ge
22.01.2022 NBN - It is nearly - well probably - well supposed to be finished next? year. The good news is it nearly always seems to work for our customers - Novix Turned 23 last week - yep we remember the dial up modem very well..... https://iview.abc.net.au//sam/series/2/video/LE1806V032S00
22.01.2022 Google turned 21 today - it was about 20 years ago all the search screens on a english language college we managed the IT for changed from AltaVista to google - What is Google they said at the time..... now google is a verb.
21.01.2022 Our servers, web and email are undergoing major upgrades over the weekend - apologies for any bounced emails etc.
21.01.2022 Wow 20 years since the Y2K Bug, Novix was there upgrading and patching systems to make sure the end of the world didn't happen. There's another one in 2038 for Unix based systems, but probably will be a non-event as unix evolves very fast with it being mostly open source.
21.01.2022 Ho ho and and that difficult conversation where your digital children get the 300 error's from web pages - yes we have seen the 400 errors like 404 "not found" the 500's like "service unavailable" but 301 - "Moved Permanently" :- Santa isn't coming anymore... 304 - "Not Modified" :- Phew Santa is still around just a bit last year..... 307 - "Temporary Redirect" ... :- Ask your partner to spill the beans on Santa... Happy HTML christmas
20.01.2022 Be vigilant Malware, and Ransomware have spiked since people went home to work. Treat all emails carefully especially if they have attachments or links to login or pay on sites you normally use. https://www.abc.net.au//mybudget-blames-ransomwar/12252316
20.01.2022 Wow we have the 3 degrees of separation of law in Australia (the makers, the enforcers, and the Judges) but how does a public company fit into that with a head of state... https://www.abc.net.au//donald-trump-twitter-acco/13044570
19.01.2022 The end of the Adjustable monitor height is numbered...
19.01.2022 Have you ever seen photos or video of Home owners who have the Title to their home after paying off? It's a rewarding time after many years of mortgage payments and a real paper copy that you own it should be available - yes it can be a forgery but conveyancing lawyers can check the registers - but given a first home owner can pay $1m or more in large cities to pay off a mortgage - shouldn't you get a receipt?
19.01.2022 A bit long in viewing time but a good Youtube want a be https://www.youtube.com/watch
17.01.2022 Online abuse can be at the least stressful, but at the worst is a rising reason for Suicide - good to see some progress on protection for the online - but have to think it is a big Step.. https://www.abc.net.au//world-first-adult-cyber-a/13008470
16.01.2022 Who would have though a Hollywood Actress would also be in the Hall of Fame for inventions https://www.invent.org/inductees/hedy-lamarr.
16.01.2022 Ever wondered what your "Cloud" hosted services (Xero, Onedrive, Dropbox, etc etc) are? - well big business and money because they have a physical location somewhere. Telstra just sold a bit of the cloud - but are renting the contents back. https://www.itnews.com.au//telstra-sells-clayton-data-cent
15.01.2022 So with less than a month to Christmas - who has backed up their Phone contacts, your photos, AND your company data... Tick Tick
15.01.2022 2021 has some positives - the Spam to Real email ratio was almost the reverse this time last year ie: scammers trying to exploit the disruption in work conditions to steal passwords.
15.01.2022 Googles 22nd birthday - When Novix changed an English language school search page from Altavista to Google - they said google what? - and now who knows what Altavista was....
15.01.2022 Scammers will stop at nothing it seems
14.01.2022 So where does all the SPAM come from (no not the one in the tin)
14.01.2022 Windows 10, Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 S SSSSS look out for the S There's some huge discounts on laptops at the retail stores, we were ready to recommend one of our customers picked up a great hardware spec ... and then noted the Windows *S*... So what the S? the S means "secure" in Microsoft terms... but it really means - they won't let you run any applications that doesn't come through the Microsoft store Ie: they get a cut of the $... Sounds like.. A fruit company.... https://au.pcmag.com//some-users-are-stuck-in-windows-10-s
14.01.2022 Have you checked and updated your 2 factor authentication for Social media accounts recently... AND made sure all the passwords are different. Please do.... https://www.abc.net.au//teenager-arrested-for-twi/12515224
13.01.2022 10% off - What? https://thenewdaily.com.au//20/07/17/kogan-promotion-code/
13.01.2022 First Super2 meeting and moving forward
12.01.2022 Zoom profits up 355% - I bet the back end of the company was 1000% busy - but who ever was behind the design and functions - NAILED IT ! https://www.bbc.com/news/business-53979632
11.01.2022 What? Yes you need to update your Phone too... https://www.abc.net.au//whatsapp-to-stop-working-/11920676
09.01.2022 Magic wand back in the cordless charger... Today we fixed a laptop that had a failure with the drivers for the WiFi adapter an hour before a group Zoom meeting *they were due to host* , then fixed a corrupted Outlook profile that would not connect to the Exchange server, and then the icing on the cake a laptop which the keyboard typed random characters, the fans ran at 110% and eventually shutdown - diagnosis: the battery had failed, disconnected and laptop worked again.. haven't seen that fault before...
08.01.2022 So Google expects news for free? - This "News" article shared from the ABC - which is funded by Australian Taxes - Which Google also seem to be flexible on paying.... https://www.abc.net.au//google-open-letter-to-aus/12566670
06.01.2022 Why would you spend money on your computer when it is working "Just Fine".... Well if it doesn't make you any money, lose you any data/photos go ahead (and expect it to die one day) While the eseries of supercars is a bit of a time filler - why would you try to use 6 year old technology.... Does your computer make you $ - invest a little with us to keep it working... https://www.speedcafe.com//heimgartner-puts-out-sos-after/
05.01.2022 Y2K - the year 2000... Was one of our best trading years as systems were updated. One of our customers had the best handle on the problem - he lived in Queensland but his house looked into New South Wales (they were on daylight savings - ie: 1 hour ahead on the clocks) He said if the lights go out in NSW at 11 Oclock I'll panic, otherwise all good! - we still don't know how much was spent to prevent 1999 becoming 0000 but 20 years ago...
05.01.2022 The bionic ear now connected to your phone https://www.itnews.com.au//cochlear-to-support-direct-audi
04.01.2022 NBN - one of our customers calls it the No Bloody Network - Mostly it works well these days but we still have customers with issues, and to be fair not all are NBN issues. SO! If you have problems with internet browsers timing out or saying sites are not available, here's a tip to help diagnose the problem - (yes you are probably giving over information to google to do it - but they probably already know that) ... Use google Chrome as your web browser and install the "Intern...et Connection Monitor" extension/plugin (just google it) this will add a little Green/yellow/Red icon to the top of you browser window and log the results If you are having problems with your internet connection it will give you a file that you can use with your IT consultant to prove/disprove a NBN issue
04.01.2022 Working at home - and have rubbish WiFi? - could be as simple as your wifi antennas, if your internet modem has external antennas make sure they are set like the photo here, the 45 degree angles can double the connection strength, if you are using a PC with wifi antenna on the back - make sure it is also screwed in and vertical.
04.01.2022 We have an NBN fail our email and phones are out until it is fixed
02.01.2022 I know it was the weekend relief Sunday I.T. crew - but apparently the Denial of Service (DoS) attack on Telstra that knocked out internet an phone today isn't any more - so what broke? https://www.abc.net.au//telstra-internet-outage-c/12516344
01.01.2022 NBN upgrades promise to deliver 1Gbit/sec to a large number of customers.... But the fine print is you will pay for it too. If you are lucky enough to be on the old foxtel cable network the upgrade should require no cabling changes so might be cheaper, otherwise the cost of running a fibre optic cable to your location may make the service more expensive. https://www.abc.net.au//nbn-upgrade-is-your-inter/12692854
01.01.2022 Here's a good article on why more of our customers have Windows Taskbars on the left or right https://www.howtogeek.com//why-your-windows-taskbar-should
01.01.2022 When you order parts and the shipping company has their I.T. systems offline due to ransomware.... Yep even very large companies like Toll are not immune to this - how's your Antivirus/Malware software going?
