07.01.2022 *** POKER NSW UPDATE *** Over the last week, the group known as Poker NSW, consisting of the vast majority of poker leagues in NSW, has prepared a Covid-19 Safety Plan and is in the process of submitting this plan to the relevant authorities. Poker NSW has also posted a survey to players asking for their support of the Covid-19 Safety Plan and has received nearly 3,000 positive responses a great show of community support! Please see www.pokernsw.com.au to fill out the 2 question survey. The Covid-19 Safety Plan has been devised to keep TD’s and players safe whilst enjoying their favourite pastime and we remain hopeful poker can resume sooner rather than later. 05.01.2022 Dear NSW Poker players, During this hard time of COVID-19, NPL has been working with both the NSW Licensing police and the Australian Hotel Association (AHA). Our latest updates from both is that all poker events in NSW should be paused effective immediately. We are currently working with both groups aswell as other leagues in Australia to get a clear guideline of running poker events in NSW and hope to have something soon.... We will keep players up to date through this process, but unfortunately, we have to advise that all games from Midnight the 21st of August 2020 are postponed until further notice. 03.01.2022 Today is a good news day! Poker NSW and NPL has this morning received notification from NSW Police that poker events CAN BE CONDUCTED AGAIN so long as they meet the maximum group booking of 10 as outlined in the Public Health Order. What this means for players is that POKER WILL BE BACK! ... There will be some differences to the format as Multi Table Tournaments can’t be operated under the current restrictions BUT let’s look at the positives! We CAN play Shootouts, Single Table SNG’s, satellites and timed tournaments to name a few of the variants. Given the maximum group booking size of 10 any variant that ensures a single player only interacts with 9 other players is permissible.
