25.01.2022 Griffith and Leeton SES training with Griffith FRNSW tonight on the USAR multi Agency Training Prop @FRNSW & NSW SES working together to protect the community.

24.01.2022 Calling 000 and emergency services has been made easier by the Emergency + app. This app is compatible with both Android and IOS devices. It will give you you... physical address as well as the GPS coordinates. This can be helpful in a situation when you are in an unfamiliar place. #nswrfs #hanwoodrfb @ Griffith, New South Wales See more

24.01.2022 A VIDEO OF WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YIU PUT YOUR FEET ON THE DASHBOARD OF A CAR WITH AN AIR BAG Share this with your friends & loved ones PLEASE DO NOT PUT YOUR FEET ON THE DASHBOARD OF A VEHICLE.... As rescue operators for many years we get to see first hand reduction in deaths & serious injuries during accidents. This is due to lifesaving equipment equipment like AIRBAGS. Recently our emergency service personnel have seen an increase in people driving around with their feet on the dashboard. We have made a quick video to highlight these dangers. Please make sure everyone you know is aware of this and avoids the temptation as the results can be catastrophic. https://youtu.be/QaYUOFGO6Mo

23.01.2022 RED and BLUE ! What do you do? When Bob sees red and blue lights in his rear view mirror, he doesnt panic, he indicates and pulls to the left when safe to do so. ... Bob doesnt try to overtake and out run emergency vehicles. Bob is smart Bob is safe Be like Bob Recently the SES & emergency services were activated to reports of a person trapped In a Motor Vehicle Accident at Murrumi. Two SES rescue vehicles responded to the incident, one of those vehicles while under lights and siren reported that a member of the public over took them and attempted to out run the emergency vehicle. Fortunately, this dangerous behaviour did not result in a collision, However the vehicle and number plate were reported to NSW Police for further investigation Within the Road Rules 2014, rule 78 stipulates that "If a driver is in the path of an approaching police or emergency vehicle that is displaying a flashing blue or red light (whether or not it is also displaying other lights) or sounding an alarm, the driver must move out of the path of the vehicle as soon as the driver can do so safely". When an emergency vehicle is behind you with lights and/or sirens, they are responding to a potentially life-threatening emergency. If your loved ones were in that car crash, their house on fire, being physically attacked or in cardiac arrest, you would want emergency services there as quickly as possible. So please, if you see red and blue lights in your rear view mirror, dont panic, indicate your intentions and pull to the the left (when safe to do so). A Community Message from Griffith SES

19.01.2022 Massive thumbs up to the Griffith City Council guys who have (hopefully) eliminated the confusion around the Fire and Rescue only parking spaces out the front... of the station. They have trimmed back the trees so the signs can be seen and have this very morning freshly painted cross hatching to draw attention to which parking spaces this applies to. Please refrain from parking in this area. Whilst they often appear to be vacant, they are needed to ensure the quickest possible turnout time of our firefighters responding in the event of an emergency. There will be no excuses (or sympathy) for those who are fined as a result of parking in these spaces.

15.01.2022 Something worth reading and thinking about. Especially leading up to Christmas. (From another page) To the 18 year old kid I stopped on the highway,... Youre welcome. Id like to believe that you were minutes away from creating an unspeakable Christmas tragedy when I stopped you. If not only killing yourself, you were well on your way to killing some innocent person who was minding their own business doing nothing else wrong but being in front of you. You said you didnt realise how fast you were going. Thats a lie. You may not realise when youre doing 60 in a 50 but you are fully aware of every kilometre per hour at 160. You realise it with every bump you hit. You realise it as you pass cars so fast the wind moves your car. You realise it every time you drift over the line and when you move the wheel the car reacts a lot quicker than youre used to. You absolutely realised it. You were scared when I stopped you. You were visibly shaking and breathing hard. Unfortunately, you were scared one minute too late and for the wrong reason. You should have been scared that you were trying to kill yourself. I know youre invincible. I know that you cant even fathom your own death. I can tell you dozens of stories of dead and broken 18 year old bodies that Ive pulled from cars. Broken bodies that Ive found in front yards after crashes. Unrecognisable bodies. They thought they were invincible too. They werent. They were gone so they missed the part where I had to tell their parents that they were dead. Part of your soul disappears every time you have to tell parents that their kid is dead. I dont KNOW your parents, but I know them. I know that when you leave every day they say Be careful. Drive safe. Those arent just words. That is the very last act of them pleading with you to come home safe. When they get a knock on the door, its not Good afternoon maam. Your 18 year old son just had a massive heart attack. Its Can we sit down? Your son has been involved in a very serious crash. Im so sorry. Hes died. When you leave the house they know that, far and away, the best chance you have of dying that day is in that car. Sometimes youre the innocent person hit by someone with no regard for anyone else and sometimes youre the one with no regard for anyone else. Today you were the latter. You seemed like a really nice kid who made a bad decision. I dont feel bad about this ticket at all. In fact, Im proud of it. I hope youre paying it off for months and with every payment you think about how it wasnt worth it. I hope you slow down. I hope that when your mum tells you to drive safe you make a promise to her, and yourself, that you will. I hope you can envision me sitting in your kitchen telling your screaming mother that you have been killed. Slow down. Please. You are not invincible. I promise.
