25.01.2022 Congratulations to Jayden Blake who won this years Country player of the year. Jayden was instrumental in the success of the NSW Country U18 program in 2019. His ability to identify an opportunity anywhere on the field at any point in the game meant that the opposition sides were never really sure what he was going to do next and as such, he created havoc often. Defensively, Jayden made his presence felt by a dominant show that would often see his opposition number look ... to avoid the area where he was. Jayden's attitude both on and off the field should be commended. When asked if he would play in an alternative position due to a string of injuries he said that he would play wherever he is required to benefit the team. This attitude was incredibly refreshing and demonstrated Jaydens ability to serve the team and not just his own ambitions. He was subsequently rewarded with selection in the NSW U18's team that toured Perth. Jayden also toured Canada and US with the Opens Tour and represented Central West at the Country Champs. To top the year off the Dubbo Roos U17s were Central West premiers in 2019. Well done Jayden.

08.01.2022 As promised we have managed to have a chat with Andrew Cleverley (Head of Talent Management at NSWRU) about what we can still do with the 2020 NSW Gen Blue prog...rams. Andrew gives us a run down on what is still planned (COVID allowing) for the Boys XV's game & GEN BLUE. Unfortunately we dont have the resources for 2020 to run 7s or Girls Rep programs - but they are on the agenda to return in 2021. Thanks Andrew for your time - some great info for our aspiring players. 06.01.2022 Vale John Hamilton PUBLISHED Monday, November 11, 2019... The rugby world lost a humble, hardworking, lovable legend of the game this morning. Former NSW Country Junior Rugby Union President John Hamilton passed away overnight after he lost his 12 month battle with Melanoma. John was a ‘roll up your sleeves’ type of president. He was a stereo-typical country man; a farmer no less; a doer, not a talker. John was a leader and great bloke to mostly everyone who knew him. He was the leader that NSW Country Junior Rugby Union needed when he took on the Presidency in 2014. He didn’t take a back step when he knew he was right. He pushed boundaries and took every opportunity to further the success of Country Junior Rugby Union. He was the guy we all went to for rugby advice. John also sat on committee’s at a State level (incl as Vice President of NSW Juniors). He loved the interaction, negotiations and debates with executive rugby types who often tried to bluff the volunteers (to no avail of course he was way too smart!). He had a keen eye for detail and was not afraid to ask the hard questions during budget meetings or teleconferences when it came to Country missing out on something. John graciously lead Country Juniors for four seasons between 2014 and 2017. He also Coached Country U/18 for several seasons prior to taking on the President’s role. During this time, NSW Country Junior Rugby Union expanded to include a sevens Country Championship, a Country representative sevens side in the Nationals Championship, the introduction of a girls country championship in the U/17 and U/15 age group, the selection and development of an U/17 girls Country Junior representative side and Country Junior Rugby Union tours to Argentina, Spain, South Africa, Fiji, Italy, New Zealand. John was a huge advocate of having NSW Country side compete in the NSW Schools Competition. He wanted to give players of school age who had left school and were employed in various occupations a pathway to elite rugby and the possibility to be selected into the Australian Schoolboys team (what we now know as the Academy system to the Australian Schools & U18s team). He was also under the firm belief that introducing girls to 15 a side rugby would result in the game taking huge leaps forward. John was not only an exemplary rugby coach and administrator, he was a loving husband to Viv and a very proud father to Leesa, Harry and Grace. He was my mate, mentor and rugby confidant! Right up until the week before he died, I was still talking rugby with him. He knew he didn’t have long to go but he wanted to know everything that was going on in rugby circles and offering his advice and opinion. He loved it and we loved him for his passion, dedication, humility and wit. I will miss him greatly. RIP John Hamilton - a true Rugby man. A tribute by Michael Sutherland (CJRU).

05.01.2022 Good luck to the Country boys playing on Sunday in the next round of U/18 Gen Blue trials. The Country boys will be taking on the Sydney team at 1pm at Camden. The game will be live on cluch tv. All you need to do is go onto www.cluch.tv set up an account (which is free), then log into your account at 12.55pm on Sunday and the game should be on the front page. Lets get behind the Country boys this weekend.

05.01.2022 Thank you to everyone that trialed today for the U/18 Gen Blue - Country team. We had over 70 players trail with only 25 positions up for grabs. There was definitely some great rugby played throughout the day. I would like to thank everyone that helped out today from taking one of the teams, chasing players to fill in for players that were no shows, selectors, Covid controls and the Country committee. A big thank you to Maitland Junior Rugby Club for the use of their ground...s which looked great. As well as all the work you did with the setting up of the field and leaving all your Covid fencing in place until after today. Country and the players really appreciated it. Attached is the list of the 25 players that were selected from today that are required to play a further trial at Camden next Sunday against the City team, that was also selected today. Congratulations and all be the best for next weekend.
