19.01.2022 INVERELL JOCKEY CLUB GALLOPING HOME WITH $45,807 FOR ELECTRICAL UPGRADE Congratulations to President Peter Tanner, secretary Karen Fontaine and all th...e hard-working members of the Inverell Jockey Club committee on securing a $45,807 grant from the State Government yesterday. Hot on the heels of their incredibly successful Boxing Day and New Year’s Day race meetings, the year couldn’t have got off to a better start for the club’s committee and it was an absolute pleasure to meet with them yesterday and provide the good news. This funding will be used by the club to upgrade it’s ailing electrical infrastructure, which is now more than 40 years old and has started to fail during peak times causing interruptions to broadcasting and losses of electrical equipment The club will install a new a meter box, main power switchboard and update all the electrical cabling, giving the trackside facilities plenty of capacity to expand in the future. The committee should be very proud of what it has achieved at the club in recent times, creating what is without doubt, one of the best turned out racecourses in country NSW! 12.01.2022 Some photographs just speak a million stories. Just what is going through the heads of these two SDRA legends?

10.01.2022 Our charity had $3500 stolen in our safe from Thursday morning to Friday morning. This was someone who knew the house and only took the safe. All our money go...es into our horse feed and some selfish, inconsiderate & quite honestly, disgraceful person has left us with nothing but to start all over again. The police are involved but if you were this person or know who, and have any conscious whatsoever, return this to the house and no questions will be asked. Until then, if you can help us out in anyway please go to our website https://recycledracehorses.com.au//help-support-recycled-r. All donations are tax deductible.

09.01.2022 Racing NSW have amended the eligibility for horses to compete in the Newhaven Park Country Championships. Racing NSW had previously announced that the eligibility date for the 2021 Country Championships series would be 1 May 2020 rather than 1 October in previous years. After receiving a number of submissions on the above change, Racing NSW today revised the eligibility date for the 2021 Country Championships. Accordingly, to be eligible for the 2021 Series, horses will need... to have been under the care of an eligible country trainer as at: 1 July 2020 for raced horses; or 1 September 2020 for previously unraced horses. Racing NSW will also reserve the ability to admit horses to the series on application, depending on the individual circumstances of the horses. The revised eligibility dates for the 2021 Country Championships series have been developed following consultation with the NSW Trainers Association. The Country Championships conditions will retain the recently introduced provision that horses contesting the series must be trained by an eligible country trainer for twelve months following the Final. Racing NSW is seeking to ensure that horses racing in the Country Championships series reflect the objectives of the series to promote the participation and development of NSW country racing said Racing NSW Chief Executive Mr Peter V’landys AM. Racing NSW believes that altering the eligibility date to 1 July 2020 for raced horses is fairer to horses that entered country stables to be raced as country horses in advance of and beyond the Country Championships Mr V’landys added. The Country Championships series commences at Coffs Harbour on 13 February 2021 with the Final at Royal Randwick on Saturday 3 April 2021. See more

06.01.2022 Is there any stopping Blaike McDougall? The state's leading jockey rode another hat trick at Murrumbidgee Turf Club today and now has 88 winners for the season. The Albury-based hoop is using his disappointment from the end to his 2019/20 season as motivation to take out the NSW jockey’s premiership in 2020/21. ... The 26-year-old all but had the jockey’s premiership wrapped up last season before a six-week suspension cruelled his chances, leaving him to watch on as Andrew Gibbons (124 wins) knocked him off by a mere 1 wins with only two days remaining in the premiership race. To be honest, I am probably more determined this season. I was disappointed with how my season ended last year, losing the premiership and sitting out the last six weeks of the season was really hard to swallow, McDougall said. I feel like I’m a bit more determined and a bit more mature now.
