16.01.2022 As African swine fever (ASF) continues its spread around the world, a collaboration across government and with industry this week tested our capacity to manage a response to, and recovery from, an outbreak of ASF should it ever find its way to Australia. Exercise Piggyback, initiated by the NSW State Emergency Management Committee (SEMC), involved two days of discussion-based exercises and activities that enabled us to assess the effectiveness of NSW’s arrangements for coo...rdinating response and recovery efforts between the relevant government departments and emergency management authorities. Thanks to all participating agencies who joined us in the exercise and helped put us in a better position to prepare for and minimise the impacts of ASF.
