24.01.2022 Its been a tough year for so many Australians. Our NSW miners and their families have made changes to be able to stay safe on the job and help keep our economy moving. The Newcastle Knights and NRL fans have adapted too. With crowd restrictions, strict quarantine protocols and border restrictions - its been a season like no other. Every year, we celebrate our NSW mining families with the Newcastle Knights who play in the replica hi-vis mining jersey.... This year, things are different. Were not encouraging mining families to attend Voice for Mining Family Day in person as we usually do. Weve got more info about how you can cheer on the Newcastle Knights from home. Because were all on the same team in 2020. Were one team UKNIGHTED. #nswmining #voiceformining #nrl #newcastleknights #covid19aus

23.01.2022 Here's why local businesses are backing Whitehaven's Vickery mine extension outside Gunnedah. Our profits remain in the Narrabri community. The responsible development of our local resources, including through projects like Vickery, will allow us to continue making this type of social and economic contribution into the future. Jack Campbell from Namoi WasteCorp... If you support mining jobs, take five minutes to tell our state's decision makers: https://www.ipcn.nsw.gov.au/have-your-say

23.01.2022 It has a massive flow-on effect - that's the message from mine worker Nathaniel Skliross on the benefits of mining for our state's regional communities. The NSW mining industry is ready to create more than 15,500 direct construction and operation jobs to support our economy as we recover from COVID-19. 23.01.2022 We’re cheering on the Newcastle Knights as they make their first NRL finals since 2013! They’ve been supporting our NSW mining communities since then, and that’s why throughout the finals we want to share messages from supporters about what the Knights in hi-vis mean to them. It’s our way of returning the love and helping celebrate their success on the field in 2020, which has been a challenging year, to say the least!... As Craig from Warners Bay says: Kalyn Ponga represents the same determination as our proud mining community. He takes pride in his efforts, he responds quickly to what's in front of him. Even when he faces challenges, he can play himself into form. He knows hard work and his spirit can lift a team and a community.

22.01.2022 Great news from Glencore, which is donating $750,000 towards the development of a COVID-19 vaccine at The University of Queensland. Yesterday, UQ began Phase 1 clinical trials for their vaccine - and we're all cheering for their success in the months ahead. #nswmining #COVID19Aus

20.01.2022 The Knights support us. And we want to support them as they make their first finals appearance since 2013. Each year, the Newcastle Knights head onto the field with pride in our mining communities, especially in Voice for Mining round. As Andrew from Lower Bedford says: Growing up in the same town and playing for the same club as Josh King, he understands what mining means to the town of Singleton.

19.01.2022 The footy is on again this weekend, and thats something we can all cheer about! 19.01.2022 Our Voice for Mining community is standing up for the Newcastle Knights this week and the players that have proudly worn the hi-vis mining jersey. It’s the first time the Knights have made the NRL finals for seven years. So we’ve asked Knights fans and our NSW mining communities to tell us their favourite player to wear the hi-vis jersey since the club’s last finals appearance. As Mitch from North Rothbury says: Jeremy Smith is dependable, uncompromising and an absolute workhorse. Much like many hard working miners, Jeremy displays grit and determination to never let his mates or the region down.

16.01.2022 It was a tough weekend for the Newcastle Knights but we’re proud they made it this far. While they’re out of the NRL finals, we’re still grateful for the strong connection between the players that have proudly worn the hi-vis jersey and our mining families across NSW. As Denny from Mayfield says: Daniel Saifiti gives it his all. He can handle more of a workload than a Komatsu 930E and remains as humble as the day he first threw the jersey on.

13.01.2022 Itll be right. Its how so many of us try to get through things when were down. But today Hymel Hunt from the Newcastle Knights has spoken up on the challenges of living in the NRL COVID-19 bubble during the 2020 season and the pressure its putting on players. We can all relate to having a tough time of it this year, one way or another.... So it is great to see Hymel talking about his own mental health and the struggles he has had not seeing his family since Round 1 back in March. Hymels a community advocate for the NRLs mental health awareness program. And hes encouraging younger players to balance their career demands and mental health by minimising their exposure to social media and having a go at meditation. He says some people might think its ridiculous, but he reckons its amazing. So instead of saying itll be alright, think of this as a reminder to talk to someone when youre having a tough time. 02.01.2022 Shout out to Newcastle Knights wing / centre Hymel Hunt for speaking up on mental health. Its a challenging time for everyone. Miners have had to adapt to new ways of doing things safely. Today Hymel talked about a game in QLD a few weeks ago, where his Mum and Dad were watching, but he had to stay 10m away and couldnt give them a hug. He cried. Who wouldnt. Its tough. Lots of people will have stories like this. But speaking up about it and using his platform in a positive way is a really awesome thing for Hymel to do Youre not alone Hymel. Were with you!
