21.01.2022 With the onset of COVID-19, have you been more focused on keeping your hands, clothes, living spaces and everything else you own clean? If so, you’re not alone! Imports of containerised chemicals have jumped nearly 30% throughout the COVID-19 period (February August 2020) compared to the same period last year, driven by demand for chemicals to support DIY home projects and domestic home cleaning And it’s no surprise, but this includes a huge increase in disinfectant! As ...the primary container port for NSW, Port Botany is responsible for 99.6% of all the State’s containerised imports, supporting the flow of goods to support our everyday way of life. 21.01.2022 Fantastic news and a big win for the Illawarra in last night’s Federal Budget, with $240 million funding allocated for the Mount Ousley Interchange, supporting enhanced trade links between Port Kembla and Greater and Western Sydney. NSW Ports has worked with Business Illawarra and other key Illawarra First members including the UOW: University of Wollongong, Australia to advocate for this vital road project, which will improve the safety, efficiency and productivity of the c...orridor and improve access to and from Port Kembla for heavy vehicles. The funding announcement follows the NSW Government’s announcement in November of $21 million for planning the project. These key infrastructure projects will support #PortKembla as the port of growth and will help facilitate its development as the next container terminal for NSW. 08.01.2022 As an island nation, Australia conducts 98% of its trade through ports. Port Botany plays a key role in importing goods to support the lives and lifestyles of the people and businesses of NSW and to export goods to international markets. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve seen some interesting trends in the types of trade coming through the port. Our efforts to stock up our pantries have driven a 7.9% increase in the import of food and beverages during this ...time. Pasta and other cereal products make up almost a fifth of these food imports! Interested in hearing more about the trends in imported and exported goods and commodities? Stay tuned for more insights! Read more: https://www.nswports.com.au/nsw-ports-ceo-update
