16.01.2022 You don’t have to live right near the bush to be at risk. Even if your home is a few streets back, you may be at risk. Can you guess the main reason homes are lost to bush fires? #getreadyweekend

15.01.2022 Fact: Your safest option is to leave early. A bush fire can be a terrifying situation, intense heat and flames will make you tire quickly, it will be difficult to see and breathe. You may become confused or disorientated. Powerlines and fallen trees can block roads and make driving dangerous. It’s always better to leave early, before the fire arrives. Visit myfireplan.com.au and make a bush fire survival plan, it will help you make important decisions like when to leave or what you need to be prepared to stay. #getreadyweekend

14.01.2022 If you update your Fires Near Me NSW app or check our website, you'll see new icons for bush fires across NSW. This is part of a new national approach to warnings. Over time they'll be used for more hazards in more locations, so you can expect to see the same approach whether you're at home, work, or traveling.

13.01.2022 Yesterday, MidCoast Council Mayor, David West handed over the new facilities at Bulahdelah to our Mitigation Crew. We now have three Mitigation Crews operational across the Mid Coast District. Our Mitigation Crews perform a number of roles, such as helping to prepare areas for hazard reduction by volunteer brigades, meaning our community is safer from bush fires. They also help some of the most at-risk members of our community through the Assist Infirm, Disabled and Elderly Residents (AIDER) program. MidCoast Council, NSW Rural Fire Service
