13.01.2022 Last night two of our Out of Area SES teams from The Hills SES and NSW SES Canterbury Unit along with NSW SES - Queanbeyan Unit and NSW SES - Captains Flat Unit responded to a flood rescue at Krawarree. A vehicle trying to cross flood waters was washed down stream with the two occupants and their dog managing to swim to shore and await rescue. Using a boat the SES Swiftwater Rescue Technicians managed to ferry the two people and their dog to safety. ... SES volunteers worked in torrential rain, responding to the scene over long distances, dodging wombats and land slips along the way. They also had to work fast to prevent themselves from getting cut off by flood waters on the roads in the area. This is an important reminder never to drive through floodwater. It only takes a small amount of fast flowing water to push even a four-wheel drive off the road. Fortunately, this rescue had a good outcome but this highlights the risk to the occupants of the car and rescuers. Thank you to all the SES units involved in the rescue as well as Monaro Police District and Fire and Rescue NSW for their assistance on scene. For emergency assistance during a storm or flood call NSW SES on 132 500. In a life threatening emergency call triple zero (000) Photos: William, The Hills SES

Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.

11.01.2022 NSW Health is urging Merimbula residents and holidaymakers to be on alert for COVID-19 symptoms after a child holidaying in the area tested positive to COVID-19.... Anyone with even the mildest of respiratory symptoms or fever in the Southern NSW Local Health District area should attend a COVID-19 clinic for testing. The child from Victoria was tested in Melbourne and the results were originally reported to the family as being negative.
