23.01.2022 TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL For people in parts of Hunter, Central ...Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes, Riverina, Lower Western and Northern Tablelands Forecast Districts. Issued at 4:31 pm Friday, 30 October 2020. SEVERE STORMS OVER THE CENTRAL INLAND Plan Image A trough of low pressure is combining with an upper-level disturbance to generate unsettled condition across much of NSW. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Orange, Tamworth, Dubbo, Parkes, Griffith and Hay. Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Southern Tablelands district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED. 14.2mm of rainfall recorded at Goonumbla in the 15 minutes to 3:35pm. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. * After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 7:35 pm. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

22.01.2022 Busy night for all first responders last night, no sleep for most. Firstly a house fire and secondly a large shed fire. A huge thanks to all involved, RFS, Police, Ambulance, and local council. Also to 399 Narrabri, 448 South Tamworth, 452 Tamworth, and 229 Boggabri FRNSW.

22.01.2022 This morning, Boggabri Ses were joined by Boggabri Fire and Rescue, 2 members from Narrabri VRA, who are also dual members with Narrabri Ses and 1 member from Narrabri Ses to have a joint familiarisation with each other’s Rescue equipment and share skills. A great morning of learning and getting to know each other when we are responding to an accident. We then had a BBQ lunch which included our after action review. Looking forward to to another day in the New Year. A big Thank you to all involved.

20.01.2022 An awesome outcome!!

19.01.2022 The Gilgandra SES Unit was activated for a road crash yesterday, not confirmed that anyone was actually trapped. So why call us then? Police and ambulance act...ivate us to such calls as there is so much we can do at such scenes apart from specific rescue operations. It might include scene lighting at night, assisting police and Council with traffic control, assisting with patient handling, setting up emergency helicopter landing zones and assisting paramedics move the patient to the ambulance i.e. up a steep or slippery embankment. There is often a great deal to do. SES volunteers - building community resilience
