22.01.2022 Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Gosford, Parramatta, Wollongong, Nowra, Bowral, Orange, Mudgee, Bathurst, Katoomba, Goulburn, Dubbo and Parkes.

21.01.2022 Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS An approaching trough and cold front are increasing northwesterly winds. Conditions are expected to ease during Monday as the system weakens and moves further north. For areas below 1900 metres over parts of the Snowy Mountains and ACT, winds may average 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h on Monday morning. ... The greatest risk of damaging winds is along ridges. Winds are expected to ease on Monday afternoon. Locations which may be affected include Perisher Valley, Thredbo, Cabramurra, Braidwood, Cooma, Bombala, Bredbo, Adaminaby and Nimmitabel.
20.01.2022 The latest warning from the BOM is for severe thunderstorms. The cold front may also impact our area later this afternoon. A cold front is sweeping across inland NSW today, bringing strong and fast-moving storms. Severe thunderstorms may produce damaging, locally destructive winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours.... Locations which may be affected include Canberra, Yass, Dubbo, Parkes, Wagga Wagga, Albury, Griffith, Cobar and Bourke. If severe thunderstorms develop in Canberra and Queanbeyan, the bureau will issue a more detailed severe thunderstorm warning to people in this area.

14.01.2022 For everyone who loves a good "what's that bang" or "who's letting off fireworks" social media post, you are in for a treat over the next 10 days. After a great... deal of social media comment recently, and even some media coverage, the Department of Defence has confirmed they are currently conducting evening time exercises under loud noise simulations. You may hear explosive noises between 7 and 9pm on 10, 12, 14, 16 and 20 November. As usual, the extent of the noise is dependent on weather conditions. Bells Amusements has been advising on social media that there will be fireworks at around 8pm on Saturday 14 November at Queanbeyan Showground during their three-day carnival starting Friday 13 November. Owners of anxious pets may need to make preparations.

07.01.2022 Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS Warm northwesterly winds are strengthening ahead of a cold front. This front is forecast to gradually cross New South Wales during Thursday and Friday, generating strong and gusty winds across southeastern New South Wales. DAMAGING WINDS may extend to include eastern parts of the Southern Tablelands and Central Tablelands, and parts of the South Coast and Illawarra forecast districts from Thursday morning.... Winds are forecast to ease on Thursday evening, after the cold front crosses southeastern New South Wales. Locations which may be affected include Thredbo, Nowra, Bowral, Batemans Bay, Katoomba, Cooma and Bombala.
07.01.2022 This weekend NSW SES flood boat operators and in water operators were put through a variety of scenarios including flood rescues, river bank searches, boat handling, and boat towing in changing river conditions. NSW SES - Gundagai Unit NSW SES - Sutton Unit NSW SES Young Unit NSW SES - Yass Unit NSW SES - Goulburn Unit and NSW SES - Queanbeyan Unit were all involved in various ways. The participants really appreciated Ross Tout and his Gundagai team who brought down their BB...Q trailer to cook lunch on both days. Thanks to Patty Maxwell, Dianah Brown, Felix Pantaleo, Jack Pidgeon and Glenn Jorgensen for organising the training scenarios on the Murrumbidgee River at Gundagai with the support of Ross Tout.
