23.01.2022 Happy WOW Day Hillston! Thank you to our fellow volunteers all over NSW and Australia for dedicating your spare time to help others. We are proud to be SES volunteers!

19.01.2022 NSW prepare now for a strong cold front that will sweep through most of NSW on Friday. Very warm, dry and strong north westerly winds ahead of the front is exp...ected to bring elevated fire danger to north eastern districts and parts of the northern inland on Friday. This system will kick up a lot of dust through drought stricken areas of New South Wales on Friday. The northern inland is expected to be most impacted by raised dust, but parts of the southern inland may also be affected. Strong winds are expected to persist through New South Wales on Saturday in the wake of the front. Gale force winds are currently forecast for waters off the New South Wales coast during Saturday. It's important that people with asthma or other respiratory conditions be prepared when dust storms are forecast in their area. 10.01.2022 HealthShare Safety Day at the Hillston Hospital Thanks to Allana and Louise for attending The HealthShare Safety Day/ BBQ, Wednesday 16th. Explaining to the staff and residents the roles within the SES Unit & the wonderful work we do for our community.

10.01.2022 What a fun and exciting weekend our team had! Hillston SES volunteers completed our Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) and Industrial and Domestic Rescue (IDR) courses. We learned how to do a search and rescue in a collapsed building, how to assist other agencies in a more complicated search and rescue operation, and how to extricate a casualty who is trapped under rubble. We also learned how to cut a ring off a swollen finger, how to drill into the bottom of a glass bottle to ...release pressure, how to use power tools to rescue a person after being impaled on something, and how to rescue a person from farm and commercial machinery. It was a fascinating weekend and we are thrilled to be able to help our community in this way if needed. Big thanks to Roc, Phil, Greg and Graham for coming all the way from Forbes and Parkes and volunteering your time to train us!

09.01.2022 This Long Weekend Drive Towards Zero! NSW! Working Towards Zero - The NSW road toll isn't simply a number. It is people. Sadly, it's closer to home than you thi...nk. It's people like you. Grandparents, mothers, fathers, children. And it's a number that's unacceptable, no matter how small it gets, until it gets to zero - https://towardszero.nsw.gov.au/thecampaign See more

04.01.2022 Over the weekend some of our unit members became involved in a rescue of a different sort. An Echidna had been found with a steel ring around its nose.. after... collecting him and trying to remove the ring. He was transported to Taronga Western Plains Zoo. Where he was sedated and the ring removed by zoo staff. Today unit members travelled back to the zoo to pick him up and released him back where he was found. See more
