08.01.2022 Big thank you to NSW SES volunteers! It's been a big couple of days for NSW SES volunteers on the Mid North Coast. On Sunday afternoon NSW SES volunteers undertook a medical transportation via boat of a person from a remote part of Myall Lakes to an awaiting ambulance.... On the weekend NSW SES volunteers were also supporting a NSW Police land search for a missing 13-year-old autistic boy who was found after being in bushland overnight in the forest south of Taree. Today and over the course of the weekend NSW SES volunteers have attended around 40 requests for emergency storm and flood assistance regarding leaking roofs and sandbags as a result of flash flooding. 48mm fell in Williamtown in one hour to 8:00am today. 124mm of rain was recorded at Wallis Lake in one hour to 2:00pm today. There have been several flood rescues today around the lower Mid North Coast. Please never walk ride or drive through floodwaters. Turn around don’t drown. A small car can start to float in 15cm of water and a large 4WD can start to float in 45cm of water. For emergency flood and storm assistance call the NSW SES on 132 500. For life threatening emergencies call triple zero (000).

08.01.2022 Safety advice for all Recreational River Users on the Mid North Coast: We understand it’s the holiday season and people love to spend time in and around our beautiful creeks and rivers. Unfortunately, with all the recent rain in Northern East NSW many of our local recreational water spots are flooding or have been affected by flooding. We are still experiencing some small river inflows which is caused by remaining run off, this is constantly changing the water behavi...our and velocity. The water levels on many of our river systems are still expected to fluctuate over coming days with any renewed rainfall. Due to last seasons bushfires we are seeing higher than normal amounts of debrief in the river systems making them particularly dangerous for swimmers and recreational water sports such as boating and kayaking. No one should be engaging in these water actives while the river is still flooding. Rivers are likely to rise again with any additional rain so holiday makers should remain aware of the possibility of more flooding and monitor the conditions.
