Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Wagga Wagga, Albury, Narrandera, Holbrook, Lockhart and Jerilderie. Issued at 9:05 am Saturday, 31 October 2020. Weather Situation: Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, large hailstones and damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Sydney, Wollongong, Nowra, Batemans Bay, Orange, Canberra and Goulburn. Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Hunter district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED. 38.8 mm was observed at WOLLONGONG AWS in the 30 minutes to 9:05 am. VIGOROUS ALPINE WINDS North to northwesterly winds are increasing this evening as a slow-moving cold front approaches from the west. Winds will reach a maximum late Sunday night and early Monday morning before easing during the day. For Alpine areas above 1900 metres, DAMAGING WINDS averaging around 80 km/h with gusts in excess of 120 km/h are likely during Sunday and Monday morning. Winds are expected to ease later Monday. Locations which may be affected include Perisher Valley, Charlotte Pass and Thredbo.
