During this event we also recieved a call to back-up Canowindra SES Unit with some specialist working at heights operators for a job at Moorbel near Canowindra after reports a house had its entire roof torn off. As flash flooding is also a very high risk in this area during these larger storms we also had 2 swiftwater rescue... technicians on standby to respond if required. As these severe storms are likely to continue over the next several days we would like remind you... stay clear of fallen power lines, never drive, walk or ride through floodwater, check the condition of your guttering and downpipes and make sure they are clear. If you require emergency help during floods or storms call the NSW SES on 132 500 and the nearest unit will be dispatched as quickly as possible. 24.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE There are a few changes that have taken place with the way the NSWSES Orange City Unit operate that you may notice. We hope you understand and can help us through the next few weeks.... Some of the changes include: We have cancelled all non essential courses, weekly training nights, community engagements and activities not associated with emergency response to help keep our members healthy and able to respond to any call-outs\emergencies as they arise. If you visit our McLachlan St HQ for any non life threatening issues we are not going to be able to let you in. You may notice our rescue trucks at emergencies with SES members sitting inside or keeping well away from members of the public. We are not being rude but rather are minimising the amount of contact with the community and other emergency services. This also applies to greeting you with a handshake...we would like to, but just can't currently. We won't be able to show your kids our trucks or boat and let them sit in them for a while. Behind the scenes we are doing a lot of hard work to continously decontaminate our trucks, uniforms and Headquarters to ensure our dedicated members and our community are protected and that we are able to maintain our 24\7 - 365 day response capability for Orange and surrounds. Thanks for the support, it's been a long 6 months...we could not do this without everyones support. #NSWSES #OrangeCity #beatthebug

Of note are sections of roadway where we've had several vehicles ignoring warnings and driving into extremely deep (up to 700mm deep) fast flowing water with at least one motor vehicle stalling out completely due to water ingress. Luckily these people were able to self extricate and get to safety. Please remember, if it's flooded...forget it!

06.01.2022 ANZAC & Rosemary; Why is it important? Rosemary is an emblem of remembrance... Remember that which we have won, and remember those which we have lost.... It is traditional on ANZAC Day (25th of April, 2020) to wear a sprig of rosemary pinned to a coat lapel or to the breast. Rosemary has particular significance for Australians on ANZAC Day as it grows wild on the Gallipoli Peninsula. In lieu of the current strife throughout NSW, Australia & the World, the Orange City unit of State Emergency Service would like to offer sprigs of Rosemary to any person wishing to display these on ANZAC day. Orange SES shall have sprigs of Rosemary (completely free) upon a table in our unit yard tomorrow between 1200 & 1600 hours. Such a small item, yet such an embodiment of remembrance towards those whom sacrificed all. Wear it with solidarity, and therefore pride; in our doorways and our driveways, this Saturday, ANZAC Day, 2020
