Approximately 28% of the land area of NSW is subject to flooding. Urban areas, including metropolitan, suburbs and towns have specific flood risks including impacts of flash flooding. 10.01.2022 An Early Xmas Present Today the City of Sydney SES took delivery of a new Mercedes Generation 4 Light Storm Vehicle, SYD 32. With additional passenger capacity and multipurpose functionality the vehicle which can be driven on a normal C Class licence will greatly increase our response capability and allow us to better meet the needs of those requiring emergency assistance during Floods and Storms, Unit Commander Robert Cooper said. 03.01.2022 Operational Update - It has been a busy weekend for our local SES volunteers due to damage caused by the high winds that impacted across the Metro area from Friday night. The majority of our calls were for damage caused by falling trees, branches, debris and loose sheeting. Volunteers also provided assistance to our neighbours the NSW SES - Marrickville Unit. NSW SES

01.01.2022 Saturday Storm Course Over the past few weeks City of Sydney has been running a Storm and Water Damage course for our newer members. This course trains volunteers to undertake temporary repairs from the ground and from heights. Volunteers also learn how to build sandbag walls, pump water, use generators, set up lighting and rescuing a team member at heights. NSW SES volunteers train and do courses throughout the year so their skills remain current and they are ready to... support the community when needed. A trough along the New South Wales coast is deepening today, with multiple low pressure centres likely to develop within the trough tonight and Sunday. This system is currently bringing widespread rain to the southern half of the coast, and is set to bring increased winds as the low centres develop....
