25.01.2022 THUNDERSTORM FORECAST #2: 21/09/2020 Thunderstorms are likely in the region this afternoon and evening as a trough makes it way across NSW. Thunderstorms could ...become severe in areas of the region producing damaging winds. Heavy Rainfalls and Large Hail Stones cannot be rules out. Severe thunderstorms are possible for the whole region this afternoon and evening but are more likely to occur in western areas and some central areas. We have began monitoring BOM's warnings, the radars & the satellite and will provide updates as the situation unfolds. JUST REMEMBER! Just because you live in an area that has been coloured does not guarantee you will experience a thunderstorm. Not everyone in coloured areas will see a thunderstorm today.

24.01.2022 SEVERE STORMS LIKELY DURING WEDNESDAY Severe thunderstorm activity is likely in the northeast of the state tomorrow, with the risks of large hail, damaging... winds and heavy rainfall. Non-severe storms also possible for large parts of the state. This is a forecast only. If severe thunderstorms do develop, warnings will be issued tomorrow. 21.01.2022 On National Police Remembrance Day we remember those whose lives were cut tragically short while serving their community. Shockwaves reverberated through the A...ustralian policing community in April, when Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Glen Humphris and Constable Josh Prestney, were killed on duty at a vehicle stop on Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway on 22 April. It was the biggest loss of life in a single event for Victoria Police. These officers were children, siblings, partners and friends. That didn’t stop when they put on the uniform, and the sadness of their loss remains. To those families who have lost loved ones, we grieve with you. While we can never take away the weight of your loss, across Australia, the entire policing family, is here to support you. To those who continue to serve, we thank you. #NeverForgotten

Road users are reminded that; They may be liable for any damage that they cause to a road that is closed to their vehicle type. Travelling on roads covered with water is extremely dangerous and should be avoided. Road conditions can change without warning and drivers should travel with caution. Unsealed roads damage very easily when they are wet and only essential journeys should be undertaken until these roads dry out. Repairs to damaged roads are not usually possible until the roads and gravel stockpiles begin to dry out. Council prioritises repairs with higher trafficked roads usually receiving attention first.

21.01.2022 **HEADS UP FOR SEVERE STORMS** Large areas of our region are likely to come under attack by severe storms this afternoon as a low pressure system & a Upper trou...gh system looks produce high instability & likely to cause severe weather from as far north as Narrabri & Inverell. If you live in the white circled area you have a greater risk of severe storms which could include damaging to destructive winds large hailstones & heavy bursts of rainfall & supercell thunderstorms can not be ruled out. Hopefully these don't eventuate as some people are still cleaning up after Wednesday. As always we will monitor conditions throughout the afternoon and evening, you can also help by messaging the page of what is going on in your area. The time frame for these storm will be 1pm to 9pm. Stay safe & monitor warnings from the BoM.~Dave. Map via Windy.

20.01.2022 MAJOR FLOODING EXPECTED AT MUNGINDI AROUND APRIL 6-7 LATEST FLOOD BULLETIN - 3PM EASTER SUNDAY The flood peak from the Macintyre River is currently downstre...am of Kanowna which peaked at 5.82 metres on Friday, which is 0.3 metres less that the January 2011 flood peak. Along the Weir River the flood peak is now downstream of Talwood where the river peaked at 4.58 metres. The flood water from the Macintyre River combined with water from the Weir River has the potential to cause major flooding along the Barwon River at Mungindi from Wednesday April 7. What we are expecting: * Flooding along the Barwon River will be similar to that experienced during 2011. * Moderate to major flooding may develop along the Barwon River at Mungindi, Collarenebri, Walgett and downstream as the floodwaters progress. * Predictions will be made once the upstream peaks are observed. Barwon River at Mungindi * The Barwon River at Mungindi is currently at 6.34 metres and rising. * Renewed rises are expected along the Barwon River at Mungindi where river levels are expected to reach 7.4 metres early next week (April 7) with major flooding. * Predictions will be updated once upstream peaks are observed. Barwon River at Mogil Mogil * The Barwon River at Mogil-Mogil is currently steady at 8.18 metres near the major flood level (8.3 metres). Current river level rises were caused by local flood water and are ahead of the arrival of the main flood peak from the Macintyre and Weir Rivers. * Major flooding is expected at Mogil Mogil from on April 7-8. * River levels at Mogil Mogil may reach 8.5 metres around midweek next week with major flooding around 7-8 April 2021. * Predictions will be updated once upstream peaks are observed. Barwon River at Collarenebri Moderate to major flooding may develop at Collarenebri. The Barwon River at Collarenebri is currently at 7.10 metres and rising with minor flooding. The Barwon River at Collarenebri may reach the moderate flood level (7.90m) during the third week of April, possibly around 13-15 April 2021. Predictions will be updated once upstream peaks are observed. * At 7m, Collarenebri Mission Road may close near the Gwydir Highway intersection. * Flood water may start to flow across the Gwydir Highway at Coppocks Creek, 3km west of Collarenebri. * The Gwydir Highway between Collarenebri and Walgett currently remains open with caution. * The Gwydir Highway between Collarenebri and Moree is closed. * Gundabloui Road between Collarenebri and Mungindi is closed. * Merrywinebone Road between Collarenebri and Rowena is closed. Alternative routes may be available via Burren Junction or Wee Waa. Barwon River at Walgett Moderate to major flooding may develop at Walgett. The Barwon River at Walgett is currently at 11.70 metres and rising with minor flooding. The Barwon River at Walgett may reach the major flood level (12.50m) towards the end of the third week in April possibly around 16-18 April 2021. The Kamilaroi Highway is currently closed at Dangar Bridge, 5km west of Walgett. Alternative road access is available via Llanillo Road, Cumborah Road and Castlereagh Highway. At 11.8 metres, road access may be lost to Namoi Village via George Sands Way. Alternative road access is available via Castlereagh Highway. Community meetings are taking place this afternoon at Gingie Village at 2pm and Namoi Village at 4pm for those residents concerned by the oncoming floodwaters What you need to do: * Communities and property owners downstream of the current floodwaters should prepare now for possible isolation in the coming weeks. * Isolation means people will need to stock up on necessary food, water, medication and other provisions to get them through between 5-10 days isolation. * Stay up to date with information. Listen to flood warnings and follow advice on how to protect yourself, family and property. * Do not allow children to play in floodwaters, especially stormwater drains and creeks. * Monitor conditions, should flooding develop ensure you can leave the area safely if conditions deteriorate. * Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place. * Be aware of snakes and spiders seeking refuge. * Farmers and landholders are advised to relocate livestock, stock feed, chemical and farm equipment to higher ground. * Motorists are advised to take extreme care as water will be flowing across causeways and local roads. * Do not drive through floodwater as floodwaters may be deep, fast flowing and contain debris and is a major cause of flood related deaths. 08.01.2022 BEWARE - Police warning when driving.!! DONT IGNORE Worth Passing On! This is happening now! Sad, especially if you are inclined to 'help' people... Wh...ile driving on a rural end of the roadway on Thursday morning, I saw an infant car seat on the side of the road with a blanket draped over it. For whatever reason, I did not stop, even though I had all kinds of thoughts running through my head. But when I got to my destination, I called the Police and they were going to check it out. But, this is what the Police advised even before they went out there to check.... "There are several things to be aware of ... gangs and thieves are now plotting different ways to get a person (mostly women)to stop their vehicle and get out of the car. "There is a gang initiation reported by the local Police where gangs are placing a car seat by the road...with a fake baby in it...waiting for a woman, of course, to stop and check on the abandoned baby. "Note that the location of this car seat is usually beside a wooded or grassy (field) area and the person -- woman -- will be dragged into the woods, beaten and raped, and usually left for dead. If it's a man, they're usually beaten and robbed and maybe left for dead, too. DO NOT STOP FOR ANY REASON!!! DIAL 0-0-0 AND REPORT WHAT YOU SAW, BUT DON'T EVEN SLOW DOWN. "IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND EGGS ARE THROWN AT YOUR WINDSCREEN, DO NOT STOP TO CHECK THE CAR, DO NOT OPERATE THE WIPER AND DO NOT SPRAY ANY WATER BECAUSE EGGS MIXED WITH WATER BECOME MILKY AND BLOCK YOUR VISION UP TO 92.5%, AND YOU ARE THEN FORCED TO STOP BESIDE THE ROAD AND BECOME A VICTIM OF THESE CRIMINALS. THIS IS A NEW TECHNIQUE USED BY GANGS, SO PLEASE INFORM YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES. THESE ARE DESPERATE TIMES AND THESE ARE UNSAVOURY INDIVIDUALS WHO WILL TAKE DESPERATE MEASURES TO GET WHAT THEY WANT." - Usually your Money or other valuables including your CAR.. !!! Please talk to your loved ones about this. This is a new tactic used. Please be safe. Get started NOW -- SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES TO BE CAREFUL AND AWARE OF EVERYTHING AROUND THEM SO AS NOT TO BECOME A VICTIM.

07.01.2022 Closed Means Closed Whilst out this morning inspection the road conditions of the Carnarvon Highway, 14km south of #Mungindi towards #Moree our SES Voluntee...rs observed 3 vehicles travelling along this stretch of road and another vehicle waiting. We all understand that the road closures are an inconvenience, frustrating and just annoying. But its a NO! The road is closed - YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW No matter how good you think your 4WD with the snorkel and the lift kit is, we don't want to have to come and rescue you when the pavement gives way or the water gets too deep. Don't drive through floodwater If this statewide flooding event has taught us nothing else - it has taught us that: Roads get badly damaged in floodwater, and you make it worse! Your 4WD will float in a metre of water You are not as good a driver as you think you are (no-one is) We would rather rest our flood rescue teams ahead of the on-coming flooding and not rescue people making the same old mistakes of driving in floodwater Your insurance won't cover your "sweet ride" if you have decided to deliberately drive across a flooded road and get stuck NSW Police are patrolling the area.
